Emberhand Legion

"Everyone got accepted into the Legion, even into the Inquirere. Scry had already signed his agreement to being dispatched to the front lines if a war ever got too serious, and that was all they really asked for in this sort of job."
Known as the Legion for short, this massive entity is the broad term used by humans to describe their own military force and their enforcers all throughout Talica. The Legion has existed for as long as the Emberhand Dynasty itself, and it has had a long, occasionally proud history.   Doing everything from espionage to law enforcement to warfare, the Emberhand Legion has evolved from a very specialized military unit to a monolithic organization that needs more and more members as its empire grows in wealth and size.

Structure

The Supreme General rules over the faction as a rule, both the army and the city watch. Beneath him, his many legates oversee their own squadrons for diverse operations on the bellic side.   The city watch, on the other hand, is placed under the rule of its commander. Underneath him, four commanders rule over each branch: Pax, Inquirere, Praesidium and Vigilum.

Public Agenda

The Legion's primary foundation was the protection of the Emperor, but it has over the years evolved to be more focused on serving humanity as a whole, or even the whole Emberhand empire during rarer cases of selflessness. They keep the peace, usually through war or war-like means.

Assets

The Legion has at its disposal several men that can be summoned to go to war quite instantly, all thanks to the power of small letters in contracts. Their weaponry and horses hail from every corner of the land, and as a result, few troops are ever ill-equipped in case of a battle. Given how far their own forts and outposts stretch out, legionaries also possess a considerable line of sight across most of Talica, one which makes reconaissance through the empire quite easy.

History

Founded by Tiberius I, the Legion was initially the army meant to reconquer the land lost to the Abyssian Invasion, not at all exclusive to humans. Of course, as time went on, the Legion's power grew, and the minoritary races slowly gave way to a mono-human army that never let them back in.   Several acts of the Legion have been considerably ruthless and violent, including how they handled the latest orcish rebellion, but overall the army has prevailed over most hardships.

Military

Warfare:   • Phoenix   • Irae   • Castellum   • Ignis   • Colossus   • Ibis   • Anguis   • Couriers   • Tiberian Fleet   City Watch:   • Inquirere branch – Detectives   • Pax branch – Guard duty   • Vigilum branch – Night watch   • Praesidium branch – Prison guards

Foreign Relations

The Legion has not made many friends in the past. Notably, the orcs most certainly have nothing to like about the Emperor's army. Traditionally, due to their tendency to be arrested, the kral do not enjoy their presence all that much either. Goblins and minotaurs, however, have a decent enough relationship with the army, primarily gold-based, and some can even be found in their headquarters nowadays.

Education

A low-ranking legionary can have any kind of education or lack thereof. The only real need is for them to be able to swing a sword or shoot a crossbow. However, the further up they go, the more imperative it becomes for them to know how to read, ride a horse or even behave at formal dinners.
