Squeakers

Written by Chrundle_the_Great

Squeakers, also known as the Seer, was the ratlings' prophet and the actual mastermind behind the many, many Rat Kings. He whispered promises of salvation and the "return of the Rat God" to his fellow mutants in the tunnels beneath the Rat's Nest Tavern.   As a favor to Kapital, Sir Autumn of the Silver Order put an end to the elusive ratling mage.

Description

Wielding a tiny staff and cloaked in ragged cloth, Squeakers was a mouse-sized ratling with eyes that glow eerily like rubies.

Personality

He guided the ratlings from the shadows, instilling in them a blind faith for each Rat King and the Rat God who will rise above all of them. In truth, the shrine of the Rat God was a facade, probably to encourage the ratlings to skirmish and scavenge more fervently.

Abilities

Squeakers was a formidable arcane magic-user. Preferring to concentrate on the likes of greater invisibility, the Seer relied on misdirection and mind-controlling spells, rather than attacking directly.

History

When Kapital infiltrated the Rat's Nest Tavern and freed Petra Lang during a deadly battle with the bloodthirsty Rat King, Squeakers hid from the group. Projecting his voice through the filthy, ruby-eyed effigy of a bloated rat, he posed as the Rat God and offered a powerful boon to the group for slaying the king.   As Tim Ward attempted to destroy the occult shrine, the effigy's voice thundered as spells turned the group against one another. Although the group eventually found the hidden mage, Squeakers cleverly used his small stature to hide and launch devastating spells from out of the darkness. Ultimately, the group fled, too wounded and unwilling to risk another battle.   Autumn slew Squeakers and delivered the bounty to Garrick Faulkner, quartermaster of the Hooded Lanterns, on behalf of the group, who were rewarded with greencloaks.
