Ianthe

Like her identical twin sister Io, Ianthe was a high-ranking priestess of Seluné/Shar from the age of Silver. Each priestess represented one half of the goddess's power: darkness and light, and Ianthe was the priestess of the aspect of Shar. Co-leading her people whilst fleeing from a mysterious threat, Ianthe and Io led their people towards the promise of safety on the Northern Continent. They settled in the The Archipelago of Kos after being shipwrecked and losing most of their supplies.    Ianthe, unlike her twin Io, was in favor of leaving the islands and joining their brethren who had fled underground (who would later become the Drow). Her suggestion was met with violent opposition by Io and her followers, who saw living below ground blasphemy against Seluné, since the moon's light could not reach them there. Ianthe, unwilling to fail her followers, would not back down. Ishmael, her younger sibling, joined her against Io.   Disgusted by her follower's actions, Seluné/Shar cursed them. Ianthe, like every other proto-elf on the islands, was cursed with Lunar Madness and slowly began to metamorpihize into a flesh abomination. The schism between the aspects of Seluné and Shar caused a bloody and vicious conflict between the two groups, tension erupting as supplies ran out and the community focused more attention on fighting than survival. Eventually, Ianthe went to Io in an attempt to destroy her, but lost her nerve and tried to reason with her instead. Io stabbed Ianthe seventeen times, killing her. However, due to her immense magical power, Ianthe was able to abandon her body and become a sentient banshee. Her flesh was absorbed by Io.   For many ages, Ianthe and Ishmael patrolled the island Ianthe, fighting off Io's attempts to invade it and incorporate it into her domain. When Abiyr Arsolum, Gneiss, Bill Stoneheaver, Katarine de Masque, Alden Blackwell, and Soa Mahaz came to speak with her, Ianthe was helping Ishmael fight off waves of flesh abominations coming across a flesh bridge from Io's island. The priestess initially could not believe that the party of adventurers was real, speaking with Abiyr as though he was a figment of her imagination. Eventually, upon learning that they had defeated and killed Yevas & Duras, Ianthe challenged them to a fight, hoping to die and be released from the curse.   After a short fight on the beach, Ianthe was finally destroyed by Abiyr's power as a paladin of The Raven Queen.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Ianthe, in life, was a proto-elven woman of early middle age. She had white skin and hair, which she wore long, and white Elven tattoos. In death, she appeared as a large banshee, semi-corporeal and appearing to float as though in water through the air. Her eyes were dark pits and black ichor poured down her cheeks in a mockery of tears. She wore tattered versions of her clerical robes, with bare feet. Like all proto-elves and feykin, her facial features were strangely exaggerated, lending a sinister bent to her expressions.

Special abilities

Ianthe's banshee abilities are extremely dangerous, being able to deafen her opponents or instantly knock them unconscious when she screams. She can also become ethereal at will.
