Kelis Khan Grishovna

As the dowager queen of Chandris, Kelis could cloister herself away in luxury for the rest of her life, but she chooses not to. A shrewd, calculating woman, she was married to Ishaal Khan at age 20 and has navigated the waters of the court with an expert hand ever since. She is known for being cold and somewhat dangerous; her guards are instructed to apprehend anyone caught staring or even looking at her for too long. Her son, Devaas Khan, succeeded his father fifteen years ago.
More recently, she intercepted Indira Ashtaar as she was being taken into custody by Devaas's men in Chandris. She kept her at her estate until the Golden Wheat Moon festival, where she later advocated for conditionally releasing her to Abiyr Arsolum, Katarine de Masque, Alden Blackwell, Bill Stoneheaver, and Gneiss. The two women's relationship is unknown, although they have often been portrayed by others as rivals or not even knowing one another despite being married to the same man.
Kelis, who recently suffered a stroke that has left one side of her body partially immobile, still controls much of the political goings-on in Chandris in lieu of her son.
