Caelanait
Caelanait is a forged-mountain fortress located within the Library City of Syndwend. A formidable stronghold, it was the main defence and military citadel of southern Syndwend in the early days of the city. During that time, it commanded a wide area, which extended across what is now the Great Library area, toward the Shah'Steppe Mountains.
Caelanait lies within an iron forged-mountain of the same name, which sits just below the eastern end of the city's Grand Luxstrade.
The mountain was forged by the great mage Bara'uis, and was later also the hometown of emminent fire-mage Caelsafir, the founder of the Ironflame Ideal. The mountain is now the location of the Caelsafirian Academy of the Ironflame, military outposts and training barracks, and Ironflame University.
Both the mountain and citadel are inextricably tied to Fire Magic and War Magic. Caelanait is much frequented and familiar to Fire Mages. It's long history as the site of battles, warfare, and military training is still a prevalent legacy that is tangible in the culture of the location.
The fortress reaches notoriously high temperatures due to its proximity to the Grand Luxstrade, its completely black stone exterior, and the various fire practices that take place in the area. Due to this, it is sometimes colloquially dubbed "The Oven" by locals.
