Grimgate
Edits & Such Will Occur After Summer Camp Ceremony On August 26th
The once booming metropolis has become little more than a sprawling hamlet.
Demographics
The once bustling city filled with travelers from across Tarantellia has now become a shadow of its former self. Maintaining the transient nature of a portal hub, its hard to pinpoint a specific demographic of Grimgate.
Government
After the fall of the Worldgate, the Whispershadows took over the town. While it has yet to become a ruin, the Whispershadows have maintained the housing and kept its citizens fed.
Some of the citizens have pledged themselves to the Whispershadows while others have kept to themselves without repercussions.
Defences
The districts along the Arachnae Wilderness have been overrun by creatures. Tall buildings and palisades prevent the wilds from reaching further into the city.
The inner districts and those spanning towards the rest of civilization remain under the Whispershadows' control. The portals were destroyed to prevent creatures from entering Grimgate.
Grimgate's current weakness: the houses that portal its inhabitents away once a decade.
Show spoiler
These disappearances occur on the anniversary of the portals' destruction.
Industry & Trade
Grimmers often participate in Slam Poetry. They travel into La Chiave a Croce every so often to perform for Croceans and travelers alike.
Those who work for the Whispershadows collect information and perform tests on the town to determine the causes of the disappearances.
Infrastructure
The Portal Master's Suite is a circular building surrounding a natural tree portal. The rest of the town was built radiating out from that point.
Guilds and Factions
The Whispershadows run and operate Grimgate.
Previously, the Clearsparks owned and operated the portals and the town.
History
Grimgate, formerly known as the Portal to Tarantellia, was once the largest travel hub on the Claw Continent.
After the Magic Implosion, the portals became vessels of chaos. No longer could people travel reliantly across the world. Instead, the portals would take people to random places including new planes. Giant creatures and unknown entities came through the portals.
The Clearsparks saw only one way to protect its citizens, destroy the portals. By this point, many of the citizens fled to other regions on the Claw Continent.
With the portals destroyed, the city began its great reconstruction. The Clearsparks ran out of funds to continue building a failing city. At this point, the Whispershadows bought the town and took over.

I love that the Grimmers use slam poetry as a trade and export it's performance to a nearby community. I kinda wonder what Grimgate Slam Poetry is like.
