Scayrus
The eastmost region of Orie Country lies beyond the Sparkling Estuary. Scayrus is home to the only openly practicing Mages in the nation. At least, these mages openly practice within Scayrus and never leave its borders out of fear.
Shortly before the War on Magic began, buildings, like the Luna Asylum, were set up around the Continent. Once the war began, magic users were subject to horrendous therapies and experiments. When the charges against Cordella Grove for magic usage were dropped, all anti-magic officials left Scayrus. The community had been falling apart for decades and was left in ruins.
Many Scayruns believed themselves mad after their time as guinea pigs in the Luna Asylum. Months without anti-magic officials turned into years. Slowly, Scayrus began to rebuild. Many Scayruns developed magic that allowed them to control the nearby flora and fauna. Their cities became lush and overgrown yet functional. The longer the anti-magic presence was away, the more Scayruns began to express themselves with magic.
Now, to teach and learn magic is cultural ambition. Celebrating the present and honoring the past to always remember and never lived suppressed again. To that end, the Code of Scayrus was created.
- No magic can be done towards another person without consent.
- It is your duty to aid another's weaving upon request.
- If someone is lacking knowledge, it is your honor to teach and encourage them.
Government
Since the departure of anti-magic officials, Scayrus was left to ruin. To the governing officials of Orie Country, there is nothing profitable in Scayrus. As such, tax collectors do not pass the Sparkling Estuary. The Scayrus community operates on trade and communal support.
Industry & Trade
There are a few Ories from Asma who visit Scayrus for trade. Imports from Asma includes technologies and materials from the larger cities, spell components found in the region, hand-woven tapestries, and produce. Scayrus exports mended supplies, seeds from across Scayrus and the Center of Enlightenment, prepared food, and the occasional potion.
