Just a few blocks away from the harbor, The Last Depot is
Gatherhold's most infamous pawnshop. This sandstone building stands alone with a large glass window with gaudy Aundairian purple drapes in the storefront and a large handpainted sign with peeling paint. One could get wares from all over Noyatu here.
Offputting Ordeal
From the street, customers are hit with a musty odor and a metallic taste in the air that seeps out of the building. The scent only intensifies as one steps into the messy, littered, and mish-mashed style the store presents. Within you can hear the distant waves of Lake Ossya that are quickly dominated by tiny dense footsteps and traditional halfling music.
Despite these initial turnoffs, the store seems to do well for itself. There are general customers, used items from here in the
Talenta Plains to the far reaches of
Chult, and higher-end pawns displayed within the large window at the front of the store. Most of the customers are adorned in armor and weapons; adventuring parties looking for curios and unique items. The others are homeowners trying to spice up life with bohemian furnishings.
Loud and Excessive
The tiny footsteps that fill your ears belong to Huritt d'Ghallanda, the male halfling that owns the pawn shop. From afar, Huritt presents as a noble from the house he belongs to, but closer inspection tells a different story. He has a wide face with a bulbous nose and deep-set eyes. Hurrit is a hefty halfling but wears his weight well and seems comfortable. He wears gaudy and worn-out clothes; they are loud and excessive with rips at the seams and frayed ends.
Anyone who speaks with Huritt d'Ghallanda for more than 5 minutes can pick up on his tyrannical and paranoid personality. He speaks in a condescending tone and brings up his lineage whenever possible. Hurrit has a sense of self-importance that leads to him talking over others without letting them finish. Huritt also has an obsession with protecting his belongings and assets because he believes other shop owners in the city are conspiring against him.
