Shaman

Shamans are spellcasters similar to wizards in that their magic comes from rituals, lore, and years of practice, but their craft has an emotional and spiritual component.

Social Status

Clan Atarka
After the khanfall, Atarka quickly devoured most of the shamans of the former Temur clan. Partly because those they were not useful for obtaining food, but mainly out of fear of their elemental magic. The few who survived are quietly keeping the ancient traditions alive.   No longer do they paint the cave walls of communal gatherings, but instead use a sort of scrimshaw to record the clan's history and important events. Hunters take a small trophy from the body of an animal before feeding it to Atarka: a claw, a fang, a point from an antler, or a toe bone. The shamans secretly inscribe these items and add them to the hidden "library" of the clan's deeds.
Clan Kolaghan
Most of the clan's true spellcraft is practiced by the shamans of the foul tongue. Kolaghan shamans ride solo for long stretches, sometimes following dragons for miles and only joining other warriors at odd intervals. They weave magic in a strange occult tongue, thought to be rooted in the Draconic language but twisted with centuries of dark intent.

History

Mardu Horde
Mardu shamans were tested on the field of battle. The shamans of the windsteppes practiced a magic focused more so on action as opposed to wisdom or rituals. Chasm shamans moved the very earth to create rifts to trap, slow, or isolate enemies. Ragesingers influenced a warrior's fighting, often by using ferocity-enhancing spells on the warrior's mounts. Woe reapers channeled the pain of their enemies' death-cries to power their magic.
Sultai Brood
Magic of Sultai humans consisted of elementalism and shamanism. They worshiped the power of the lands and attempted to contact their ancestors. Their magic was also based in empowering themselves. Strength, growth, and healing magics helped them survive the hardships of the Sagu Jungle.
Temur Frontier

Temur society practiced a mage that was highly shamanistic, possessing a strong elemental flavor. Their shamans called their magic "whispering" and spoke of "frozen memories." Even claiming to be able to contact the frozen spirits of their ancestors.

This elemental affinity allowed them to shape stone and ice to varying degrees. Those with the strongest talent would construct fortified cave shelters and manipulated the terrain in battle to hinder the enemy and strengthened their own position.
