The Larkin Empire

One of the largest and most sprawled Empires the world over, but also the most unknown. Spread over the vast distances of the world below and vastly covering areas within the Underplane, the denizens within the Larkin Empire are all universally united in a way most of the surface dwelling empires are not.

Structure

The organizational structure of the Larkin Empire is based around the family structures, connections, codes of mercy, and loose structure of the vast distance. Usually a lord governs over regions, but most citizens within the area are given equal share and resources.

Public Agenda

The main agenda of the Empire is usually under the service of the two gods that lord over the Mercedeans almost exclusively. Most resources are spent with maintaining defenses on the border cities within the Underplane and combating many of the dark forces under the control of the evil god below.

Assets

Much of the assets of the Empire outweigh all of the surface empires together by sheer size and mass of the volume of citizens. Everything from precious minerals to strangely farmed lands that are illuminated by glowing mushrooms and other such life.

History

Formed in the early days of the exile from the surface, the many Kla'tani that found themselves isolated below the surface banded together quickly. Over time, without any outside influences aside from empires, it spread rapidly and throughout the untold lands. There is however great resistance now with the empire's spread.

Demography and Population

Much of the lands owned are unsettled, as no real breaking of people or ideals span the area below. The only beings or groups that go against the Empire usually find themselves on the side of the dark gods and creatures below.

Territories

Most of the territory controlled is ancestral or inherited lands over many generations and thousands of years of growth.

Military

The military within the Empire consists of two main groups, and then guard postings and other town militias. The first being the followers of Anfalis, all wearing similar dark metallic masks in his visage. The others are soaring warriors following the image of Xaevalla, both relentless fight against the darkness below.

Religion

Religion and gods are important to the Mercedeans, and equally as important to the Empire. Most of the people follow these religions near exclusively.

Foreign Relations

Foreign relations are...nonexistent. People know of the surface, and very few rare cases have gone to the surface, but nothing serious above happens enough to have foreign relations aside from anyone low traveling Onyxams, who view them simply as a lower class.

Agriculture & Industry

Agriculture is heavily monitored and controlled, as much of the process is difficult below ground, but not impossible. Industry is less so in comparison, but forge works and other such designs of weapons and armor are still readily spread through the Empire.

Trade & Transport

Trade exists between the cities on tunnel roads that are guarded and lit in dangerous areas. These tunnels stretch upwards and across long channels and bridges of immense chasms that lead down into the darkest depths below.

Education

The average education is distributed on an area by area basis. Some of the areas are well taught by public education, while others are much less schooled and learned.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure within the Empire exists on a grand scale. Brilliantly sculpted structures that span upwards into the heavens and over the long channels of tunnels, coiling stonework, and long spiraling chasms and columns would make any Ghe'tani jealous of the buildings, homes, and whole cities built into underground caverns.
