Callaise

Callaise is a small logging town nestled within the foothills of eastern Craysilt. There are several settlements out here that house the workers providing raw materials to the The Unified Kingdoms of Craysilt .   The living is rough out here, but not as rough as many of the residents would have you believe. These are well established work settlements, where it is in the The High King's Seat 's best interest to make them as safe and productive as possible. Therefore, money has been sunk, resources have been siphoned, and tax collectors have been notoriously lax. These towns and villages are safe. Or, at least as safe as any town or village in the rural heart of the Kingdoms.   The High King 's influence is strong 'round these parts, manifesting as fierce patriotism and rugged individualism. People with names like 'The Ole Man of the Mountain', or 'Toofless Larry' simply litter the place, each with their own unique and colorful stories.

Demographics

Entirely human, although it is close enough to Feynor to have exposed the inhabitants to the residents, and-however minutely-a touch of the Feywild.

Government

Pure democracy, with a Speaker elected at the time of the Jury gathering.

Defences

Da-what, now?

Industry & Trade

This is a fisher and fur trapping village and economy.

Infrastructure

There isn't much of anything the village provides in and of itself, but the people come together to fill needs as they arise. There are cleared fields around the village specifically for tents, camps, and transient merchants and laborers.

Assets

Freshwater fish, some lumber, luxury furs and pelts. The market here is close enough to Feynor that minor magical items for sale make their way to the village, such as potions and rings. It is against the village's charter to buy or sell weapons at the market here in town.

History

As they say in the village, 'thankfully, our history is boring as fuck'.

Tourism

Fishing enthusiasts sometimes show up during the spring thaws, but as soon as the first one dies the rest melt back into the populated areas.

Architecture

Simple notched-log post and lintel affairs, strong enough to withstand Eastern Craysilt winters.

Geography

Callais is set off the southern edge of Lake Cittern, past the flood plains.
