Tranton

Tranton is a small village nestled within the foothills of eastern Craysilt. There are several settlements out here that house the workers providing raw materials to the The Unified Kingdoms of Craysilt.     The living is rough out here, but not as rough as many of the residents would have you believe. These are well established work settlements, where it is in the The High King's Seat's best interest to make them as safe and productive as possible. Therefore, money has been sunk, resources have been siphoned, and tax collectors have been notoriously lax. These towns and villages are safe. Or, at least as safe as any town or village in the rural heart of the Kingdoms.     The High King 's influence is strong 'round these parts, manifesting as fierce patriotism and rugged individualism. People with names like 'Broke-nose Nate', or 'Hilltop Harry', simply litter the place, each with their own unique and colorful stories.

Demographics

Entirely human.

Government

There is a 'mayor' who harbors fascist leanings. He seems to really enjoy public 'caning' as a punishment and deterrent. He also employs stocks and crow cages.

Defences

The cliffs are a big help, and there is a fortified castle and bailey set atop the cliffs, where the population can flee to in times of fear.

Industry & Trade

The finest horses in the land are bred, trained, and raced here. A large gambling industry, therefore, has blossomed, and helps fill the town's coffers with the taxes paid on every bet. The prison here, in the basement of the castle, is the most secure criminal detention facility in the country. The countries of the Unified Kingdoms of Greysilt send their worst criminals here to serve their sentences.

Infrastructure

The newest of the eastern Craysilt labor towns and villages, it boasts a castle and bailey, a well-ordered and extremely clean (by law-caning, remember) town nestled firmly up against the @Wilderwood cliffs.

Assets

Turf, fertilizer, fields of grass, herds of horses, elk, and cattle, a reputation for fantastic leatherwork and saddlery, a quartz and geode mine, a silver mine

Guilds and Factions

Guilds and factions are strictly forbidden in Tranton, on pain of public caning and a week in the stocks.

History

Authoritarian and brutal.

Tourism

Horse enthusiasts from the world around come here for obvious reasons.

Architecture

Post and beam construction is the norm here, albeit with a stone castle and keep.

Geography

A tectonic shift at some point, perhaps a great earthquake, created a cliff here that the forest has reclaimed above and below.

Natural Resources

Horses; elk, moose, and bear hides; freshwater fish; jockeys and trainers
