Abandoned: Knights Sepulchre
This order of ex-criminals, convicted heretics, and caught-slaves were brought before the Universale Church in order to redeem themselves in life and death. They were tortured, sterilized, and tattooed on their inner forearms while dedicating and binding their soul to an Ophanim, a powerful angelic servant of the Empyrean Gods. Their emotions were repressed as part of their torturous retraining to be zealous servants to the gods. Their casualty rate is supremely high due to their supreme religious zeal to prove themselves redeemed before the gods.
Those knights that survive at least a year, prove themselves with further duties as vessels for the Ophanim and other angelic and sacred beasts. They welcomed this sacred possession as a blessing and sign of redemption before the gods. Upon signs of becoming a sacred vessel of the gods, they were branded on their foreheads with the holy sign of the blessed beast's true name.
This entire order was abandoned as the remaining Knights Sepulchre perished in either the Second Great Holy War or in the conflicts afterward. Those that managed to survive became priests of the Church of the Black Star.
