Ismark the Lesser

Ismark Kolyanovich

Ismark wasn't a typically dour Barovian. He typically welcomed travellers dragged in by the mists , and offered to pay for their wine. When Ace Ventura came to Old Barovia, he asked for their aid in protecting his adopted sister, Ireena Kolyana. When they agreed to help, he took them to the burgomaster's residence. He wanted the adventurers to help him escort Ireena to Vallaki, a settlement in the heart of the valley, beyond the view of Castle Ravenloft and (he hoped) beyond the reach of Count Strahd von Zarovich. Ismark knew that moving Ireena would be a gamble, since she was vulnerable to Strahd when she was outside their home, but he had heard assertions that Vallaki was well defended.
Ismark was as tight-lipped as any of the other Barovian villagers, unless the talk dealt with Ireena or Strahd. Ismark knew everything the other villagers know, except that, for some unknown reason, Strahd was attracted to Ireena and desired her above all others.
Ismark had spent most of his adult life training with weapons in the hope of one day confronting and killing Strahd.
Ismark has a headstone in his memory in the Asylum Graveyard.
