Before his knighthood, Ser De-La was a member of the infantry of the army of the Western Plains, trained well by the Order of the Gauntlet.
He previously pursued a simple profession among the peasantry, perhaps as a farmer, miner, servant, shepherd, woodcutter, or gravedigger. But something happened when he was younger that set him on a different path and marked him for greater things. Not everybody gets to be a part of Laeral Silverhand's trusted Crownsguard. After looking into his background, Laeral chose him as in the defence of his home town, he stood alone against a terrible monster.
