Zirael Stormwind
Guildmaster of the Iron Brotherhood Zirael Stormwind (a.k.a. The Fightin' Bard)
"The pen has always been my weapon of choice. It can topple armies single handedly, condemn the innocent, and even bind the subservience of a demon lord for the roundabout cost of a soul. They are also great hidden weapon easily stowed up your sleeve..." - Zirael Stormwind as he reaches into his sleeveZirael Stormwind is a legendary bard and barbarian who currently serves as the Guild Master of the The Iron Brotherhood. Along with Theznah D'Valliette, Aldrik Icebrand , and The Verdant Bow, he led the armies of the Iron Brotherhood and Ferrus against a massive evil army gathered by a spectre of Anita Vex, at Battle of Steel Gate . Bolstered by Theznah and the Verdant Bow, Zirael was able to deliver a well-placed blow that cracked the liches mystic blade, Anathema, crushing her chest, thus ending the liches reign of terror. Shortly after her cataclysmic explosion and disintegration, her army of evil was routed by the combine forces of Ferrus.

Personal history
Zirael was born on a full moon into the Stormwind clan, barbarians descended from the Great Endo, last king of Old Ferrus. He was raised in the ways of the clan, learning to master his chosen weapon of a spiked war mace (the same weapon used by King Endo) fighting with brutality as well as how to live a simple and nomadic life. He found early on that he had a penchant for the shamanistic tendencies, and soon became obsessed with the histories and lore of his people. Stifled by the nomadic lifestyle, he set off on adventure to the city of Nova, where he met his lifelong friend Aldrik Icebrand
, who was then a man-at-arms for a small minor lord in the Northern counties. Together, they completed mercenary contracts in their spare time, earning the respect of their employers and their enemies. After a few years, Zirael had managed to save enough to attend the prestigious Hemlock Academy of the Arts, a premiere bard college that specialized in lore and history.
Zirael proved to be a wunderkind when it came to the ancient magick derived from the histories and lore he uncovered deep in the catacombs below Momentum, graduating first in his class, allowing him to land a prestige role as a curator at the Tower of Minaret, an impressive repository of archives, histories, scrolls, and long lost tomes collected and protected by The Iron Brotherhood. Under his leadership, many ancient artifacts and weapons were discovered, collected and utilized by the Iron Brotherhood. He reconnected with Aldrik, who had transferred into a position in the Iron Knights, a prestigious shock unit under the Iron Brotherhood. He also befriended Theznah D'Valliette and The Verdant Bow, their paths crossing many times on their respective quests around the Ferissian peninsula as well as the far reaches of Momentum.
In his search for hidden knowledge, Zirael discovered an ominous account of an eldritch item called a phylactery, a device constructed of Deadite which allowed a determined person to store their soul in a powerful item to allow them to resurrect if any harm should befall their physical body. Worse yet, it soon became clear that the Lich had not but one, but several phylacteries infused into power artifacts all across Momentum.
When he reported this to his superiors at the Iron Brotherhood, they ignored his suggestion for further exploration into finding these relics. He continued to pry and began to scour the library of Mineret for any more clues on the whereabouts of the liches phylactery. What he found was more horrifying than he had ever imagined--the phylactery was in fact a small emerald ring, the description of which matched exactly with the ring on the finger of Benjen Tornhollow, current guildmaster of the Iron Brotherhood. With the help of Theznah D'Valliette, Zirael was able to uncover the truth: The lich had not only returned, but was manipulating and controlling the guildmaster of the Iron Brotherhood to her beck and call. After the spectacular fight that broke out, a mortally wounded Benjen, now free from the liches machination, warned that a massive army was marching on Ferrus, and that the only way to stop them would be to rally at the Steel Gate, on the northern edge of the peninsula. With his last command, Benjen installed Zirael as guildmaster of the Iron Brotherhood, and put him in charge of their forces.
With the help of his friends, Zirael was able to convince or coerce the other four guilds of Ferrus, as well as the remnants of the Hammerlake Dwarves, the duchy of Riverlight, the halflings of Hillsvale and a few mercenary bands to converge on the Steel Gate to mount a defense against the coming horde. There they were met with an army of over 100,000 orcs, goblins, ogres, trolls, and all other manner of exotic evils concoted by the spirt of the lich. Over the course of an intense, 3-day siege, Zirael and his companions fought against the never ending horde, cumulating in a massive brawl across the battlements with Zirael facing off the avatar of the lich in combat. Ultimately, Zirael and the forces of Ferrus were victorious, although the price was the massive loss of life of many brave soldiers.
Returning to Ferrus a hero, Zirael took his spot as a member of The Council and Guildmaster of the Iron Brotherhood.
