Scorched Land is an alicorn born to Daybreaker, the spirit of the sun, and Laser Sights. He was raised as a champion, and bred to fight, according to his mother. His mane and powers revolve around lava and plasma.
At first Scorched was on board with his mother's role for him. But after meeting and befriending Eternal Moon, his cousin and supposed "rival" at the time, Scorched reconsidered his mother's teachings.
Scorched found that the powers that he once believed could only be used for destruction could be used to fertilize and grow beautiful plants. Ever since this discovery, he has loved plants and especially flowers.
He has a rough relationship with his mother. Daybreaker was already hard on Scorched for the sake of his training during the war. After his sudden rebellion against her, Daybreaker often burnt all of his gardens and belittled his new sense of direction in life for several years.
Scorched finally gets enough when Daybreaker suddenly wants to change but backslides during an argument between them. As a result, he chooses to move to Equestria and swear his loyalty as a knight to Luna's newly opened night court. Due to his species and Luna's mistaken assumption of him being a demigod, Scorched becomes not only a knight but a lord of Everfree under Duke Polaris and Maquess Masquerade.
