Atlantia Planetia
Aka: Atlantis Plains
Aka: The Orthogonio (The Rectangularity)
Overview
According to the visitor's account related by Plato, "On the side toward the sea, and in the center of the whole island, there was a plain which is said to have been the fairest of all plains, and very fertile. Near the plain again, and also in the center of the island, at a distance of about fifty stadia (one stadia=606 feet), there was a mountain, not very high on any side."In reality, Plato's records come from visitors to the area, who were afflicted by the Atlas Mountain Illusion.
Formation Legends
This plain has long since changed, but still retains much of its former fecundity. The Reaches - being the fingers of Hephaestus - extend out into the Sea of Thunder mostly towards the North. It is said that the Reaches were at one point a type of ringed enclosure that protected the City, others state that the land north of the City of Atlantis was sundered by Hephaestus when his hand was lost and this left the City at the Sea's Edge.City historians claim that the entire area was in fact cut from the Earth and used to extend the Reaches further out into the Sea and create long stretches of bay inlets that extend for hundreds of miles into the previously unmanageable waters, giving Atlantis some command over the waves themselves as a result.
Geographical Outlay
The Atlantia Planetia Plains extends from North to South wedged along the sides of two Mountainous Plateau. The entire plain is highly productive in terms of farming and woodland produce.
To the North and to the South East the Dwarven Kingdom of Kharazad sits atop the Northern Ramparts Plateau.
To the South, the Split stands as a straight path between the two Plateau - into the Anapodes (Reversed/Cursed) Palm area of the Island Continent.
To the Southwest, the Plain extends beyond Taslantis City into the Hekaden Fields bordering the Southern Most Green Jade Mountain Ranges, and the fabled Blood Reach.
To the West sit the Cities of Gyges, and Gydes, which give way to the Principality of Gadeira (shortened to Gades but, more commonly called Cadiz which is also the name of its Capital Floating City (Cadiz.)
Geography
The entire plain is filled with a variety of geographical phenomena despite being called a plain - so it is more diverse in set up than that. It is largely filled with a network of small rivers and some small hill ranges, but they are largely concentrated around the rivers themselves. The land is rich and fertile being a part of a massive flood plain that floods once every three or four years with a light depositing of mud. The river systems allow for a regular depositing of new nutrients into the area from the Northern Ramparts.
Ecosystem
The farms on the plains stretch for leagues and leagues, with the entire area being covered with fields of wheat, barley, oats and even rice in places. The plain is dotted with settlements and crisscrossed with roads and strongholds.
Ecosystem Cycles
The plains experience the four seasons in a mild form, with moderate Summers of up to 30-degrees, and Winters as low as 3-degrees. This allows the area to provide for extensive crops and the maintenance of herds of bison, and other wild herd animals.
