A Curious Lightkeeper

Being the Lightkeeper isn't that easy. Lighting up the fire to keep the star bright, it's an important yet stranded atop the winding Lighthouse all time long. It would've been the most mundane, boring, uninteresting job in the world if there's nothing to waste their time.

They can either use the light's furnace, making tools of a great origin, a great price.

Or watch the view, observing everything become small and spectacular.

Looking up is a clear, beautiful blue sky. Looking straight is a great landscape of far seas and mountains. Looking down is nothing but tiny people; Walking, minding their own business like working, deciplined ants.

Then there came Magnus, the young one who came up with an idea to do something else in the meantime. observed and with makeshalf charcoal-based pencil, he made the shape of the building from top of his high workplace onto a sheet of papyrus.

Every blocks, every streets bits by bits, he got all the rough details. But he still missed something even he realized: The accurate scale and deep details. When looking down wasn't enough, he spent his long breaks, usually twice a month, exploring the entire city, measuring with his stick and ropes, jotting down on wax tablet and such.

Where he visited me to sell it, I became fascinated in an instant at how glorious and accurate it was. I gave him not only good amount of Sarts, but also contribute in deeper details and better tools. It only took weeks to complete and ready to be available to everyone with this issue of DLOV!

This scroll of map, now made of vellum, has the layout of roads and the shape of significant buildings. There is also a replication on the back page showing only all the districts, in which you can put on sunlight from behind to see everything this map can provide. The Wall of Sarton divided the city into 2 sectors. The Inner sector, consisting of 11 districts, is full of peoples, covering the entireilty of the inner wall.

The Outer sector, on the other hand, is full of fields and operating water system, which covered from the inner wall up to the main wall.

The white line at the south shore represents the 1 kilometer scale - for non-fictional readers.

Valone City

The capital city of Valonian since the age of Kingdom and the Empire. It's found by the group of thousand banished Krins. For the next few hundred years, with dedication and patience, it grows up to become one of the largest city on Earth.
