Reinhart

The Blue Empire of Reinhart is a relative newcomer on the Terrania political map. A few decades prior, it was a fraction of its size; consisting of the coastal cities of Stramhelm, Oberfallen and Herrholm. But under the leadership of King Conrad I of Reinhart the kingdom has grown quickly and is now massive force on the continent.

GOVERNMENT

Reinhart is an absolute monarchy, ruled by Conrad. But, Conrad still utilizes a broad system for governing his growing empire. Conrad legislates the Kingdom through the Reinhart Council of Ministers. These are the Dukes and Duchesses that control the lands across the Kingdom. From here laws drafted, and codified, with Conrad having the final say. The Council also happens to be Conrads most trusted generals, therefore when Conrad is on campaign, the council is as well. This allows the Conrad to legislate his Kingdom regardless of where he is. The laws are carried out and enforced by the Reinhart Judges. This group is essentially an extension of Conrad's Blue Wave, but they focus on ensuring internal stability and lawfulness is maintained. The final piece is the mayors in charge of the cities and settlements throughout the land. They almost entirely are made up of retired soldiers from the Blue Wave. Their power is held in check by the Judges and are responsible for carrying out Conrad's will throughout the Kingdom.

CULTURE

Old Reinhart's culture can be summed up as minimalistic militarism. Opulence and vanity have long been seen as a sin among the Old Reinharts in Strahelm, Oberfallen and Herrholm. Most youth spend their days training and studying in various martial and logistics academies. Folks spend their days watching mock battles and rigorous athletic competitions in the arenas dotted throughout the Reinhart. Sports are probably the aspect of Old Reinhart culture most think of. Wrestling, Maretzball (Sport where you use sticks to hit a ball into a goal) and Ulhanball (Opposing sides try to push a ball past a line to score points). Both Maretzball and Ulhanball have been growing and audience and leagues outside of Reinhart; especially in Pierce and Primrose . The newly conquered lands have been slow to adapt to austere lifestyle. Therefore, places like Ostvallen and Hollerhozellen still cling to their respective form cultures, resulting in some very interesting blends. For instance, Ostvallen has become an exceptional place to hear amazing music. Using the strict organization and on point timing of large Old Reinhart military bands, artists create music devoted to the beauty, resulting awe-inspiring melodies and experiences. Folks from across Terrania flock to the concert halls of Ostvallen to be blown away by the large ensamble and cascading scores.

History

Shortly after becoming leader of the northern cities of Strahelm, Oberfallen and Herrholm in 1738 AC Conrad Sternfist turned his attention to establishing his power over the land. The Reinhart’s swiftly consolidated power in the region; ousting regional leaders through force or threats; annexing Hansa and Doppendunk in 1745 AC, and 1748 AC. Their major rival was the Anstultz Kingdom nestled between the Ober and Neuber rivers. Conrad's The Blue Wave swept through the riverland encircling Dortmund (which is now the capital) and forcing a surrender in 1750 AC. Conrad then set his eyes on Pierce. The Blue Wave swept through the south riverlands quickly occupying the lands south of the Ober River all the way to Berwickton. On account of the Setleth Conspiracy in Pierce, left without a leader, terms were signed, and Reinhart annexed the region in 1752, renaming Yorkelton the more Reinhartian Hollerhozellen after Conrad’s family. Next Conrad started to amass forces on the former border with Toussaint as a result of the friction caused by the Arsonn Issue But Queen Brigitte II seeing the writing on the wall; negotiated a compromise, The Treaty of Lyonees ; surrendering Kabritz and its surrounding lands for continued free passage of Toussaint ships through the Oberfallen strait.
A looming conflict between Reinhart and Styrekksia is on the horizon, as many believe Conrad's son Conrad II has his eyes set on expansion north. The island of Gorthlund nestled between the two entities has been a major source of conflict. Diplomats from Toussaint, Ankerya and Heleninum have spent years trying to prevent open war in the mouth of the Medialulem Sea, but it appears to be more and more fruitless.
