The Jippon-Drachenium Wars

This was a conflict in three stages between armies of Drachenium and Jippon from 1351 - 1362 AC. Jippon was able to successful destroy all three invasion armies. The defeat was a massive prestige hit for Drachenium, and became a point of celebration across all of Terrania.

Prelude

The Drachenium Emperor Pentarnaz Druk'arnun proclaimed Druk'Kaylur's domain should stretch across the ocean, and it was the duty of the Drakenaus to carry out his will. A massive fleet and invasion force was mustered in Clethintiallor, launching forth in 1351 AC.

1st Expedition

The first expedition reached the shores of Jippon in late 1351 AC near the port city of Suketsu. Forebearers of the Emperor made sure the folks of Jippon knew the intentions of the expedition, as they claimed Jippon now under the domain of the God-Dragon and his chosen rulers. A haphazard defense force was organized and set forth to defend the beaches from the Drachenaus. As the invasion force tried to land, a massive storm covered the land, sending most of the fleet to watery graves below the depths. The few survivors were captured, and Jippon was saved. It is told, Talos intervened himself, and therefore the worship of him became prevalent in Southern Jippon.

2nd Expedition

The Drachenaus amassed another fleet and invasion force; this one significantly bigger than the last. The force came from two ports; launching from Turnuroth and Zudgagvag in 1354 AC and hoped to meet up outside Suketsu before landing. As the force moved through the Herlontic Ocean, another massive storm consummed the fleets. The surviving ships were blown apart and the invasion fleet arrived to the Jippon coast piecemeal. The disorganization proved to be a boon for the Drachenaus at first, as the Jippon main army struggled to concentrate their forces, allowing for Drachenaus armies take hold of key cities and positions. But overtime, the numerically superior Jippon fleet caught and destroyed the scattered smaller fleets of the Drachenaus, and the disjointed invasion force slowly melted away. Many either surrendered quickly or attempted to escape the islands. By 1357 AC all remnants of the invasion had been captured or destroyed.

3rd Expedition

Under an Imperial Decree, all cities of Drachenium were forced to conscript a new invasion force. This time, many local leaders and their families were forced to go as well. Failure was not an option for this force. This time the force was able to make it across the ocean undisturbed, landing the bulk of their forces near Toranyo in 1359 AC. TBut the Jippon forces were well prepared and subsequently used a variety of tactics and fortifications to bog down the invasion force, causing massive loses over time. A combined fleet of Jippon and Daegyu were able to lead the main Drachenaus fleet into a massive ambush deep within the Kakatsuko Bay. Trapped up against the shore, the entire fleet was eventually destroyed. Without any support, or hope for reinforcements, the bewildered invasion force near Toranyo became surrounded and besieged. The defense eventually crumbled, and what was left of the force, surrendered.

Aftermath

Although Jippon unsuccessfully demanded the Emperor of Drachenium himself negotiate peace, the war was eventually ended in 1362 AC with the Treaty of Setsura Bay through negotiations with a collection of Drachenium cities. The captive Drachenaus (which included numerous important rulers and their families) were returned in exchange for guaranteed peace and renumeration. When Emperor Pentarnaz caught wind of the deal, he immediately began a violent and barbarous purge of the Drachenaus ruling families that had negotiated the peace. The next decade was an incredibly dark and turbulent time in Drachenium. For Jippon, this cemented the leadership of Lord Protector Umetsuro Katsumori. His descendants would hold the title of Lord Protector for nearly five more decades.
