The Mountain King

The Mountain King was the principal antagonist during the Invasion of the Mountain King . He was seemingly operating on behalf of Tammurz due to the The Corrupted Relics of Remiel.

BACKSTORY

Little is known about his life before the Invasion. From scant details, he was a Mycretian that at some point had aquired the long lost Helm of Remiel; one of the The Corrupted Relics of Remiel . The helm at some point had been reforged into a crown, and therefore, Qerath worn it upon his head. Over time the corruption of Tammurz infiltrated his mind, and eventually (believed too, not confirmed) took over his body. Whether he was acting as paragon of Tammurz or was Tammurz himself at that point is moot, but he began forcefully converting the creatures of the The Agrios Agnosto to his side. Through the years he had built a considerable following, and because of that along with the crown upon his head, became known as The Mountain King. His fortified citadel sat high up in the Parkinas Mountains; completely hidden from the outside world. He was responsible for sending the waves of creatures at the defenses of Heleninum. His goal was to weaken their will, and prevent expeditions into his lands, so he could hunt for the remaining relics without disruption.
The Mountain king was completely unaware of the presence of the Sacred Band. That was until Estmyra Mystbringer and Alethia; Herald of Remiel figured out how to channel the energy of the relic they had found. It was through this Qerath was able to get an idea of the where the remaining relics where, and that other entities were pursuing it. Over time he was able to open a path of communication to the other relic, that happened to be in the possession of Alethia. At first he tried to figure out more about the group and their intentions. But as he learned of Alethia and her awakening, he began trying to convince her of the capricious nature of the Celestials. They were not benevolent beings, but colonizers and imperialists. They sought to enslave the beings under them and force them to comply with their rigid philosophies. He gave examples of what the Celestial do to followers that disobey their dogma. But Alethia's resolve was absolute, and Qerath accepted that one day, he would slay the Herald.
After tricking the Sacred Band, he was able to obtain two more of the relics, giving him four of the eight. He was close to achieving his goal. All he needed to do was obtain the last artifact. He knew it was housed in the heavily fortified city of Tyronopolis, a feat he was unsure he could achieve at this point. So when he caught wind of the remaining artifacts sitting in the open for him, he decided it was worth the risk. He knew it was an obvious trap, but was convinced that his growing power would be enough to overcome. This was the best chance to unite all the artifacts.
The Mountain King's hubris was his downfall, as Alethia, donning four of the artifacts, slew Qerath high above Nevma; ending his threat for good.
