Bloodboil
The Bloodboil or Sangcatharsis is a curse or divine disease that only affects the Goldblood Humans and some Halfbloods. It is described as an itch, at first, that would show golden blisters that would be filled with their gold blood. In a matter of days, the disease would spread over the body, draining the victim all of his blood. This curse was created by one of the Icons called Hunted/Hunter, many speculate it was done as revenge against the Divine King.
Transmission & Vectors
The disease can be transmitted by touching the diseased skin, more likely is touching the blood of the victim. Popped blisters can spray the blood and if it touches nearby potential victims, they too become carriers.
Causes
It isn't known how the disease starts or if there are some unknown carriers.
Symptoms
First there as an itch on the skin, after a day or two, blisters show up on the skin, containing the golden blood. The itch never stops, causing the victim wanting to pop the blisters.
Treatment
Treatment for the disease was found much later. If there isn't a cleric that can cast Remove Disease, Curse or Heal wounds, the victim will die due to blood loss. A blood transfusion in a safe environment must be made, as the victim will be losing their blood due to the number of blisters. They need to be contained in a cold room, the best are icy baths. The disease will reach its terminal state and the victim must survive the process of the blister creation. When his body will be filled with blisters, only then the disease subsides and retracts. After all the blisters are gone and the victim doesn't feel an itch, they are quarantined for a couple more days before being released.
Prognosis
For most of the Goldbloods, this is a fatal disease, while they can get the necessary treatment and/or are rich enough to pay for daily spells, they might not be strong-willed enough to survive the last step.
History
Created by one of the Icons called Hunted/Hunter during the Fourth Age, The Calamity . The first place that was hit was Sangrittus, the capital of Divine Empire. Nobody knew how to prevent this disease and even with strict quarantine over half of the population of Goldbloods and Halfbloods died. The disease would be carried far and wide, making the survivors paranoid to a dangerous point. Thankfully, after the wars ended, a treatment was discovered.
Cultural Reception
The disease is one of few situations that the Goldbloods will sympathize with the Halfbloods. Many hostile events will stopped dead, when a diseased person is found, either ending in ceasefire or sometimes peace.
