Emergence Race: Changeling

Changelings can look like anyone at any given time though they do have a true form. Their natural look can be scary to some due to their lack of detail and distinctive features. Their skin tone is always pale, the darkest tone some have is a light grey. They have large colorless eyes and are circled by thick black rings. Their noses are small and subtle with no detail. The changeling's body structures are slender, even more so than elves and border on being frail. Their hair color is most commonly a light shade of silver followed by platinum and blonde. In rarer cases, their hair can be pale shades of green, pink, and blue. Also similar to elves, changelings lack body and facial hair. They are distinct from Doppelgangers in that they act more human and are larger in numbers.   Many historians theorize that the Changeling race came from the Shadow Reflection after the Second Age, Godswar. The Great Clash rippled in the shadowy realm and many who died in the war, their shadows gained sentience but lost their memories. They found themselves in the mercy of the Shadow Master Tenebre who offered them salvation, new bodies and the choice of donning any mask they choose. These creatures accepted, forming the first of the Changelings. These Changelings returned to the Material Plane and saw themselves prosecuted wherever they went, confused as Doppelgangers. It took centuries before they were recognized as a different species. While on the whole, they never found a place to call home, individuals did their best to blend in. Some were employed by many nations as the ideal spies or assassins. The latter would form cults of Tenebre, the Mask of Vengence.

On Tethys

Changelings are few in the world, still higher than Doppelgangers but not enough to form towns or big tribes. There might be villages filled with Changelings without their neighbors or lords even knowing about it. The most known organization, group that has the highest number of Changelings is the Masked Ones, an assassin guild working on many continents.
