Exarch

When a Greater Deity sees his faith in the brink of annihilation (like he is about to lose a Portfolio, which could derank him to Intermediate Deity), he can call upon one of his Chosen to become an Exarch. These beings are granted one of their patron's Portfolios, which is a serious power boost compared to what the Chosen gets. While there are a ton of benefits, they are also downsides. First off, a mortal granted a Portfolio might renegade and steal it, becoming a Demigod. Second, once he is killed, the killer might take it for himself, becoming a Demigod or granting the portfolio to his own patron. So in short, this is the last resort for a Greater Deity.
