Planartouched: Wordkin

Wordkin can be mainly seen in the Ethereal Plane (the Tapestry) and even there they are few in numbers. Nobody knows how they come to be but they can visit other planes, which isn't good for them as being far from the Tapestry drains their energies and they can die. As beings of planar energies, they are wrapped in bandage-like scrolls that have many arcane words written on them. This is their essence, bound into a humanoid body. They lack features that would distinguish them in categories of sex or culture, they seem to dress similarly but no two Wordkin look alike. They are named Wordkin, a name that they have chosen for themselves after visiting the Material Plane and learning, for the first time, languages as they mostly spoke through emotional states with one another. It is unknown when their race came to exist and it speculated that they always existed, as a part of the planes. Some evil magic users hunt Wordkin as their essence can be easily turned into Etherite and the material they wrap themselves makes an ideal component for powerful scrolls.

On Tethys

You rarely can find any Wordkin on the Material Plane. Most of them spend their immortal lives in the Tapestry, feeding off the great aether and the many emotions of the mortals that sweep the plane.
