The Collegium of Cartography has a long and storied history dating back centuries. It was founded by a group of visionary explorers and scholars who recognized the importance of accurate maps and skilled navigators in the age of exploration.   Collegium of Cartography   The Collegium of Cartography in Oratin is a respected institution focused on mapmaking, navigation, and exploration. Founded centuries ago, by explorers and scholars, it stores ancient maps and supports collaboration among cartographers and navigators. The Collegium is led by a Master Cartomancer, a title given to the head of the institution. The current Master Cartomancer is Ilyana Strum, an enigmatic elf with centuries of experience in cartography. Under her leadership, the Collegium has flourished, attracting students, scholars, and explorers from all over Thalaros.
  Ilyana is a strict leader, and only wants perfection from the people she works with, she has been keeping a close tie to the top adventuring guilds of Oratin, as well as some respected sailors in hope gathering new information to put down on her maps.
  Students from across Thalaros come to the Collegium to study under some of the most skilled cartographers and navigators. The Collegium offers a rigorous curriculum that covers everything from basic mapmaking techniques to advanced courses in magical cartography. The Collegium also attracts scholars and historians who come to study its extensive archives. The institution is home to one of the largest collections of maps in Thalaros, including rare and ancient maps that are of great interest to those studying the history of the world or seeking lost knowledge.
  The Collegium works closely with Oratin’s adventuring guilds. The guilds often rely on the Collegium for accurate maps and guidance before setting out on expeditions. In return, adventurers bring back new geographic information, discoveries, and sometimes even ancient maps they find during their quests. The most experienced members of the Collegium might even join guild expeditions as navigators or cartographers, ensuring that new territories are accurately charted.
  Oratin’s thriving port means that the Collegium also has strong ties with the city’s sailors.
