Alde Duar

Alde Duar is one of Skølmvar's many ancient forests, and one of her largest. Steeped in legends and sagas, Alde Duar has an infamous reputation. Some claim that Alde Duar is a living being to be worshipped as a deity, others claim that it is part of a interplanar Faewylde kingdom. Fae and mythical creatures roam amidst the darkened paths that much is known for a fact.

Geography

Cradling the eastern coasts of the Gulf of Baerûn and parts of the southern coast of the Gulf of Tholfoss, Alde Duar streches all the way from the northern borders of the Kingdom of Aedeyne deep into Skølmvar. It's enormous size provides space for many rare forest beasts and microbiomes, partly due to the influence of salt water in particular near the coastlines.

Localized Phenomena

It has been established that at least part of Alde Duar is connected to The Faewylde. The physical size of Alde Duar has been rougly estimated according to various maps and geographical borders. Due to it's connection to the Faewylde, however, the interior of Alde Duar is much, much bigger, covering the size of a continent. Few dare to speculate about the source of this phenomenon, but those that do often cite the Faemoor Runestone as the reason of the crossing of the two planes.

History

Few historical sources exist about Alde Duar. But those that do even call the forest and it's Fae influences; ancient. Due to this fact, most scholars consider Alde Duar to be ancient beyond written scope.
