Amun'atep
Amun'atep is the lion-god of war and struggle, of flames and bravery, favored by soldiers and warriors, invoked before every battle. He is in a perpetual struggle with Mar-Aduk, the all-consuming serpent to obstruct him from devouring the world. At one occasion, while disctracted by the wicked god of trickery, Kem'aat, Mar-Aduk bit Amun'atep and almost killed him with his poison.
Often depicted as a six-armed man with the head of a lion. Amun'atep carries the Arakh, the wicked curved sword and symbol of Sekhmet warfare. Amun'atep is wild-minded and volatile, always ready to spill blood and seek glory in combat.
When Mar-Aduk bit Amun'atep, the serpent god released a fatal dose of venom. Were it not for Qaen-Re sucking the venom from the wound and spitting it upon the ground, the god of war would have surely died. Amun'atep was so grateful that he asked Qaen-Re to birth him a daughter from the puddle of venom to remind him of his mortality and of Qae-Re's kindness. From the venom Shamash the cat goddess was born.
