The Kingdom of Bellum

The Kingdom of Bellum is the oldest kingdom on Majjia with a rich history dating back to the Drayliankind’s first step on the planet. Bellum has many similarities to its neighboring kingdom Archangeli, as of the current time they both have the highest crime rate within the United Kingdoms. However they each have vastly different ways of dealing with it, Archangeli has largely reacted to their crime with apathy while Bellum has reacted to it by utilizing extreme uses of force and harsh laws. All this has done of course is make life harder on the citizens and easier for government officials and criminals alike to take advantage of them.   Bellum is known by the world as the Warrior Kingdom both in part because it is the largest producer of weaponry in the world and because combat is taught in school across the kingdom alongside the normal five core subjects: Magic , Math, Social Studies, Science, and Languages. Bellum also has the largest military in the world. Like Archangeli Bellum has a large number of magical scholars and researchers as it home to the second oldest magical academy Silvermoon Academy of Magics and is highly religious having temples to the Draylian gods Veta , D'Mai , Vek , Sran Kay , Sran Kai , Rad , and Gita.

Structure

Each kingdom is ruled by a monarch, which may be either a King or Queen. The monarchy is typically hereditary and is considered the highest authority within the kingdom. Their roles include:
  • Head of State: The monarch serves as the ceremonial and symbolic head of the kingdom. They represent the traditions, culture, and identity of the realm.
  • Government Leader: While their actual powers may vary from kingdom to kingdom, monarchs typically hold a significant role in the governance of their kingdom.
The Kingdom Council is an advisory body that supports the monarch in decision-making and governance. It typically consists of nobles, advisors, and other officials chosen by the monarch. Their roles include:
  • Advisory Role: Members of the Kingdom Council offer advice and expertise to the monarch on various matters, such as lawmaking, administration, and policy formulation.
  • Local Administration: The council helps manage the day-to-day affairs of the kingdom, such as law enforcement, taxation, and public services.
  • Laws and Regulations: They participate in the development of local laws and regulations, which must align with broader laws set by the Central Council.

Territories

The Kingdom of Bellum only has one neighboring kingdom, the Kingdom of Archangeli to the west. However it has many different regions within its borders such as the Heller Mountains in the east and the Rosewood Mountains in the north. There are two major waterfalls in Bellum, Angels Falls in the south east and Blood Falls in the far east. Bellum has many rivers but the most famous ones are the Blood River, which runs from Archangeli in the west to Bellum and the east, and the Bellatorum River which separates Bellum’s southern borders from Archangeli’s northern borders. The Kingdom of Bellum has control over one single territory located on the continent Lycia in the southern hemisphere. The territory is called Heart’s Isle and its royal governor is a woman named Aurora Daitan, a former member of the Knights of Blood.

Agriculture & Industry

Agriculture in Bellum is crucial to both its economy and food security. It's fertile lands support a wide variety of crops, including grains, vegetables, and fruits, which provide essential nutrients to the population. Livestock farming also plays an important role, with cattle, sheep, and poultry raised for meat and dairy products. Bellum employs a mix of traditional and modern agricultural techniques, such as crop rotation and mechanized farming, to maintain sustainable practices. Local markets and trade with neighboring kingdoms help drive economic growth and ensure a stable food supply.   Industry in Bellum is dominated by technology, weaponry, magical research, mining, and hunting, all of which reflect the kingdom’s militaristic heritage. The production of weapons and military equipment is a cornerstone of the economy, with Bellum known for its advanced technology and craftsmanship. Magical research, driven by institutions like the Silvermoon Academy of Magics, fuels innovation in both civilian and military sectors. Mining in the Heller and Rosewood Mountains provides valuable minerals like gold, iron, and coal, while hunting supports rural economies and conservation efforts. Government support in the form of incentives and infrastructure investment helps sustain these key industries and promotes economic diversification.

Part of the same governmental organization

Bellum, Archangeli's immediate neighbor, shares a significant border with the kingdom. The two kingdoms have a complex history, marked by periods of tension and cooperation. Archangeli's independence from Bellum in 1840, which led to the War of Saints, remains a defining moment in their relations. Despite the fact that both kingdoms are apart of the same governmental organization ongoing diplomatic efforts are made to maintain peace and cooperation along the border, especially given the role of the Blood River as a vital trade route. Trade and border security are key areas of mutual interest between Archangeli and Bellum.
