Drakona

Drakonae resemble wingless dragons in humanoid form. They are covered in tough scales and have a damaging, elemental breath. Drakonae can be found in many shapes and sizes and they have an average lifespan of 100 years.
You may think that these folk came from dragons, but in reality, dragons are just mutated versions of drakonae. A drakona has a unique relationship with The Ourvorax. If exposed to the wrong enviorments and magics, a drakona can transform into a dragon. Now this process is extremely rare and it is not a exact science. For example, I believe one drakona sacrificed many to gain the elemental powers of the sacrificail drakonae and through the process became a dragon. He is now only known as Scurge. Only a handful of drakonae have successfully transformed themselves on purpose. It is a lengthy and painful process.
We call their elemental breath "elemental" because that's what it was orginally recorded as, however, it has seemed to evolve overtime to be many things other than elemental: acid, poison, necrosis, etc.The drakonae's scales also allow them to withstand harder impacts and conditions.
The origin of the drakonae, like many of the species and ancestries on Altus, is shrouded in mystery. The elemental ability seems to hint at roots in The Forgotten's power, however, the connection to The Ourvorax suggests that the origin of the drakonae is more primal.
