Dark-Elves

After settling The Capital Isle, some of the Elves decided to follow the example of the Dwarves and build their strongholds underground. Though they found riches and great magical power, living in The Underdark changed the species. Lack of sunlight caused their skin to become dark purple and the brutal conditions of the Underdark caused many of the elves to become a cruel sub-race known as the Drow. Those that resisted the dark machinations of the subterranean ecosystem thrive in one of the five dark-elf strongholds.

History

The Dark elves have built five major strongholds to survive the brutal conditions of the Underdark. Each stronghold is run by one the Matrons of the Underdark.
The Dark-elves are in constant conflict with the Drow. To prevent their twisted cousins from reaching the surface world, the dark-elves placed an immensely powerful curse on the Drow. This curse keeps the Drow locked in the Underdark, sealed away from the rest of the world.
