Devil in disguise
The group were called to the mansion of Varosian noble, Enaglor Amakiir regarding his missing son Sadris. The master of the house greeted the party with a wariness and apologised for the state of his home as he had been tearing the place apart for any clues to his sons whereabouts. As Enaglor led the party to the main lounge for a briefing, a single black rat scurried through the corridor followed by a flustered maid who was desperately trying to capture the rodent. After Enaglor explained what he knew, half the party decided to interview the staff whilst the others investigates the sons room. Whilst Borghur learned the great art of cheese tasting with the master of the house and his head butler, Mushu found things were rather out of the ordinary in the sons room. He noticed that under the main rug there were several deep scratch marks on the floor and a strange ring with a wolf engraving. Ladrian was able to cast identify and realised this ring helped ward against lycanthropy. Finding this the party realised that the son must be a werewolf and feared that he was on the loose in the city. However, Mushu found an almost empty potion bottle underneath Sadris' bed. Throwing caution to the wind, Mushu drank the remainder of the liquid and quickly turned into a small ferret. Barrisar was able to put two and two together and realised that the rat they saw as they entered was likely the missing son, now he just had to cure his friend. With quick thinking, Barrisar called the rest of the party to capture the rat alive and was able to dispel the magic that had altered Mushu. The party were able to find the rat and used Barrisar's magic to revert the Sadris back to his true form. However, in a panicked state the young man began the process of transforming into a werewolf. Using the ring they found in his room, the party were able to calm Sadris before he turned.
After giving Sadris time to collect his thoughts, the party learned that the potion had been given to him by a mysterious salesman calling himself Olgen. The party learned where the conman was operating out of and went to confront him. Upon arriving at a seemingly ordinary alleyway, the party thought that perhaps their information was wrong, but suddenly a doorway appeared on one of the walls and opened. Keeping their guard up, the party entered into a room full to the brim with hundreds of random items. At the far end of the room, sat on a cluttered counter sat an incredibly handsome and well dressed man that introduced himself as Olgen. He began to offer the party great gifts that appealed to the parties individual desires, desires that he should have no way of knowing. Knowing that these gifts were too good to be true, the party drew their weapons and went to strike the hustler. However, the blade seemed to pass through his form as if he wasn't there. Olgen began taunting the party as many of the random objects in the room began to animate. In a desperate scramble, Barrisar let out a blast of lightening towards a group of animated objects but was able to catch an invisible Olgen in the blast. Having been revealed, the conman showed his true fiendish form and warned that attacking him would be a grave error. Ignoring his warnings, the party struck him down causing him and his mysterious store to melt away into dust.
Having stopped the fiend from ever handing out a twisted deal again, the party returned to the Amakiir estate to report the good news. Not only did Enaglor reward the party with gold but also promised that they would always have an ally in him and his family.
