Ruby Keys

The Ruby Keys are a set of nine keys made of rubies forged in the fires of Hell, created via a technique said to be known only to Asmodeus himself. They are indestructible by their very nature, tied intrinsically to the passing of the Entwined Infinities (in a manner similar to the Infinite Band), and are required to unlock the door that seals Golarion inside the Void.
As of 318 AG, the vast majority of the Ruby Keys are owned by the Dream Team.

History

Not many people know how this went down — outside of the gods, I guess. Probably better to keep this quiet, unless you want a visit from up on high.

The Ruby Keys were created by the Zodiac Braves on Lamashan 25th, 7212 IC (also known as 4712 AR), after they defeated a divinity-less Asmodeus during a ritual to manipulate Golarion, Rovagug, and Aroden for his own means. Afraid that other gods would attempt the Devil's scheme, they decided that the best thing for the universe was to seal Golarion (and thus Rovagug's prison) away from prying eyes, and used the immense powers they'd gathered over their journey to seal the planet inside the Void.
In case the planet should ever need freed again, they used Asmodeus' remaining divinity to forge the Ruby Keys, and Kauma Gonjodonque sacrificed himself to create the Kauma Tree, which would act as both a gate and bridge across the Silence Between and the Void. Flint Penumbra took the weakened Asmodeus with him into Golarion before the doors were sealed, leaving the remaining Braves to distribute the keys among themselves and the known realms.

• Unari Dama swallowed the Shoot Key and put the Butterfly Key around his neck for all to see — a challenge to those who would seek the Keys.
• Rowan Terris gave Ceres the Moon Key, and threw the Maelstrom Key into the Maelstrom, with only a metal thread bound to the Steel Tree left to mark its place. She then placed a potent curse on the Tree, should anyone discover what she had done, and come looking for power.
• Rowan also wore the Sparrow Key, but eventually passed it down to Valentina Terris. It was later stolen by Alexander Marcus, and sealed inside the Rambling Road.
• Pulura took the Snowflake Key with her to the Silence Between, watched over by the populace of the City of Pleated Light.
• The Brazier Key was dipped in gold and sold to a random merchant, where it eventually ended up in the hands of Vaughn Blackblood.
• The Sun Key was given to Adrammelech to watch over, and was hidden inside his laboratory in Mataras.
• The Crow Key was given to Maximus Erebus, where it was sealed in his fountain along with the spirit of Chiro.
