Station 4

Station 4 is a prison camp on the surface of Varos, which is inhabited almost entirely by sentient constructs (such as androids and anacites), who are used to mine valuable gemstones from the moon’s crust. The inmates are all subject to life sentences, although there has been widespread criticism of this policy among the Pact Worlds, many of which consider the constructs little better than slaves.
A recent uprising at the camp has drawn the eye of several social rights groups, many of which are begging the Stewards for an independent investigation into the moon’s prisons.
