Nirath (Nir-if)

Culture

    The people of Nirath live within the violent regions of Nexus through the use of the powers of the Aetherium Crystal named Estella. With raging flame winds, torrential mana storms, and other cataclysmic disasters, the citizens are able to continue their livelihoods by the grace of the crystal and the respective Cradles that they live in. Estella's power creates a massive spiritual barrier that encompasses the skies above, under which all remain safe while her valiant soldiers, named the Wings of Estella, protect their homelands.   The land of Nirath is split between the floating islands which are guarded by all disasters, Containing the crystal on one of the floating islands named an Atrium, and the ground remains at the mercy of the elements. Only a select few are given the right to live in the Atrial Cradles in the sky, while others remain in the Ventricle Cradles above ground.   The Atrial Cradles are a formulation of mystery and magic from the Age of Divinity. Within the apex lies their Guardian Divinited Estella. Enshrined and worshiped in their castle, the spiritua that lies within it remains dormant but continues to protect them even in its slumber.    

History

  Fraught with pockets of mana that burst with destructive energies, the lands of Nirath remain a contested region of interest. With violent magical storms laying waste to the area, few civilizations could persevere here. Those that did would eventually become a part of the Nirath Empire.   Established upon white magical floating isles, the Empire is one of the few organizations that remains dominant within the continent of Nexus. With a land of constant strife and warfare, the Empire would subjugate, contain, or indoctrinate other nearby regions to their lands via oppressive military force to survive.   With little ability to develop massive farmlands, their population would remain stunted. In exchange for the cooperation of the conquered, the Empire would grant them informal citizenship. By providing ample protection, they would form a symbiotic relationship that grew over time.   Dangers such as wild creatures, mana storms, and even other nations lessened. As these relationships continued, their old ties to their former nationality vanished, as these citizens became officially known as Ventricle Citizens.   Later in history, with the discovery of the Aetherium Crystal of Estella, the Nirathians could shield themselves from the destructive elements. With newly found growth and their discovery of a form of protection against the violent winds of nature, many eventually would flock to Nirath's lands.  

People of Nirath

 

Atrial Citizens

  Connected via aero-bridges to other Atrial Cradles, these residents represent the most renowned individuals in terms of intellect, wealth, and power in the Empire. Many of these individuals are a part of the organization known as the Wings of Estella. As bearers burdened with a task to protect the homeland, these devout individuals follow the obligation of Noblesse oblige.   From successive warfare against other organizations opposing the Empire, many of them have declined from their participation. While many of their kin and households remain to this very day, many have declined in power, and obligation due to a changing society.    

Magica

  Magica are known to be elemental spirits that are given sentience as magical dolls. Many of these Magicas reside within crystals known as Aetherium Crystals. These are found throughout the land of Nexus, primarily within the region of the Nirath Empire.

Ventricle Citizen

  Regular citizens who reside in the Empire are found within the Ventricle Cradles. They are a collection of other races and societies that have committed their services to the Empire or surrendered themselves as such. Many have subsided their former nationality to garnish the benefits of the protection the Empire offers. To those that lived in the Malestorms, living in this land would be a better fate. Individuals who are seen to benefit their society are often handpicked and enlisted into the Atrial Cradles for societal advancement.            

Government

  With an amalgamation of other former territories and nations, the lands of the Nirath Empire are ruled by the Aoibheann Family. Bearing supreme power over the land, the Aoibheanns has led their people to greatness through their connection to Estella. With a familial bond that is passed down every generation via Caster's Insignia as a matrilineal lineage. Presently, Veronica Con Aoibheann resides as the current Emperess of Nirath.  

Magical System

  The mages of Nirath often opt to utlize gemstones and crystals to empower their magical output. This can be as fundamental as embedding it into a weapon of choice, or utlizing them as a catalyst for casting spells. Many of these gemstones can be found throughout Nirath during their magical storm, and afterwards as well. Gemstone equipment are exported occasionally to the Aliech Continent via the Bearing Strait.   It is typically dangerous to obtain through such means. Even in the most safest of region, exploring without an expert to guide through the storm will often lead towards a misfortunate end. Occasionally, they will opt to hire Pathfinders and likeminded individuals to explore and scavage for relics in addition to gemstones and crystals within the boundaries of their regions.
