Lucius Able-Hart

Early Life

Lucius Able-Hart was born in the city of Founder's Ring. His father was a poltical advisor to the Ryder royal family and his mother was a lawyer.

Political Career

Early Political Career

Able-Hart followed in his mother's footsteps and studied law for three years before gaining admission to the bar. It was around this time that he began to question the concept of monarchy and joined the Violet Estate, much to his father's disappointment.

Violet Revolution

During the rule of King Bertrand Ryder, economic inequality reached an all time high in the city of Founder's Ring. As the Violet Estate increased in membership, Lucius managed to convince his father to join the cause in order to ensure his survival, should a revolution ensue.
During the revolution, Able-Hart was a prominent judge in the People's Court and personally sentenced many members of the Ryder regime.

The Era of Paranoia

During the Era of Paranoia, many members of the Violet Estate were accused of counter-revolutionary behaviour, including Able-Hart. Lucius however was able to personally represent his case and survive the purge.

Elected Mayor

Able-Hart was elected as a representative for the Founder's Ring Government two years after the end of the revolution and served his seat for thirty years before becoming mayor of the city. As with many of the previous mayors, Able-Hart's leadership was plagued with accusations of corruption.

First Contact with Armatopia

In order to win back favour with the people of the city, Lucius organised what has been described by critics as the 'world's most successful publicity stunt'. Able-Hart claimed to have come into contact with a map that led to a Utopian Island, charted hundreds of years ago by a crew who had found the island and attained unlimited riches. He commisioned a voyage led by Captain Abraham Finch to find the island and bring back its riches to the city. Unbeknownst even to most of his own government and most of the crew of the voyage, the map in question provided no indication that the initial crew ever returned from their voyage.
Nevertheless, the voyage proved to be an unitentional success and the crew of the Explorer found the state of Armatopia. Lucius personally travelled to Armatopia sevral months after the voyage of the Explorer and met with the country's Prime Minister, Dianne Palmer. During the visit, Palmer and Able-Hart signed a symbolic pact of friendship and co-operation between the two civilisations.

Armatopian Occupation

After the election of Edmund Davenport as Armatopian Prime Minister, peace between the two states was quickly abandoned. During the Armatopian Occupation of the continent, Able-Hart was able to negotiate a peaceful transition of Founder's Ring to Armatopian rule. He remained Mayor of the City and oversaw many domestic issues, while an Armatopian Governor was installed to take control of the City's Guard and foreign relations.
