The Protectors Pastries
The warm smell of flour, yeast, sweet fruit and wood fired ovens permeate the air. A nice, well kept building, with dual chimney’s stands in front of you. A covered stone patio runs the entire length of the front of the building, with the only break in seats and tables being towards the center where the entrance way is. Large, ornate tapestries, each emblazoned with a different kind of pastry, cover the exterior walls of the building. The gentle breeze brings them to life, causing them to bustle and wave. A gentle clattering inside and a light female voice breaks you from the momentary trance. As you enter, you are surrounded on all side by counters and displays of fresh pastries, breads, sweet smelling drinks and various other desserts. On the wall opposite the door, a quote is scrawled in large beautiful writing: “Love is like dough, it doesn’t just sit there like a stone. It must be made and remade, all the time; made a new”. Behind the counter, a gnome female is bent over quickly putting fallen dishes on a carrying tray, talking to herself.
