Nosferatu Boys
Structure
Lightbloods - Vampires of great intelligence that are able to flawlessly pass as humans and do not suffer from many of the traditional vampiric weaknesses. Because of this, they are the purest of blood, as well as the most powerful. Lightbloods are almost always of some type of royal coven situated in a major country, giving them access to mass sums of wealth, vast criminal connections and political influence. There are only five Lightbloods of The Nosferatu Boys: Damien Albescu, Alexandr Dascalu, Stefan Reiter, Ilyana Pichler and Tatiana Weber. All five act as a collective leadership over the gang while controlling almost all corporate entities in Apollo City from the shadows.
Dhampir - Children of vampires and other beings, more traditionally other vampires. In order for vampires to copulate and reproduce with any other species, they must first spiritually and physically corrupt their bodies so that they can handle the demonic seed. Otherwise, the fetus will see the vessel as an unfamiliar and frightening environment, slaughtering and devouring the host before itself dying. The Dhampir of Old Town make up most of the Nosferatu Boys, roaming the streets with leather jackets and a punk aesthetic. Their job within the gang is to monitor and expand territory, as well as maintain the flow of street drugs. The most common drug they deal in is heroin, which has led to vampire prostitutes "Fanging" more adventurous drug users or injecting the drug through vampire bites before sex.
Heavybloods- Vampires of great animosity and power, heavily succumbed to their demonic blood and on the verge of becoming Dracul. These vampires act as generals of the Nosferatu Boys. They strongly believe that they should be on top of the gang's totem pole, despite their periodically bestial nature. Unlike the Dhampir, they dress in old tattered garb with fragmented pieces of armor as an homage to Vlad Dracul's legendary armored clothing. Though their intelligence is only above average, their tactical skills, metahuman physiology and knowledge of the old world more than make up for what they lack in modern smarts.
Dracul - Vampires who have fully embraced their demonic essence, appearing as large bat creatures. They have the human intellect of a child and rely almost completely on their bestial instincts, understanding only basic commands. However, they have been known to have decent conversation in their native Romanian tongue. They live similar to the vampire bat and are typically hermits, living in Old Town's slums. Although they are loosely connected to the Nosferatu Boys, they do not perform intentional criminal acts. Rather, they are mentally bound and controlled by the Lightbloods. They act as the ultimate enforcers of the gang. If someone has wronged the Nosferatu Boys to an extraordinary degree, they are sent to feed off of those involved. Chained to perpetual poverty and the sustenance that the gang gives them to survive, they are the gang's greatest asset and modern slaves.
Strays - Vampires that have been induced into the gang after being forcibly turned or convinced into turning. This is normally done to humans, who have been seen as the most receptive to the demonic essence of this particular vampiric strain. Although it is rare that other races are infected, when it happens, that race is exiled from their kind and forced to join the NB. Because Strays are not born with the vampiric virus, they are seen as beneath even the Dhampir. For all intents and purposes, they spend the rest of their lives as cattle of the NB, doing grunt work and serving as drug mules to other parts of Apollo City. They are recognized by their eyes being speckled with blood red dots, a sign of their infected blood. However, many Strays wear contact lenses or sunglasses to avoid suspicion.
Culture
The Nosferatu Boys believe that they are not only the superior gang but the superior species. They double down on this by believing that the fact that their kind has been able to infiltrate nearly every sector of Apollo City, while wielding the largest arsenal and an outlandish amount of financial security, doesn't make their superiority a question. This creates a pretense for prejudice among all the vampires of Old Town in which they believe that other species are inferior and treat them as such. The opposite goes toward their own, however. Aside from some healthy infighting, the vampires never betray one another or actively carry out spite toward their own, believing that they need to set an example of strength and class to the other inferior races.
Public Agenda
Any and all publicity about the Nosferatu Boys are controlled by the Lightbloods. Although they allow their lower ranked vampiric kin to do what they wish in Old Town, permission is required in order to cross over into Apollo's non-creature districts. This is normally done exclusively through text messaging. All information sent to the Apollo News Network is filtered by a select few Dhampir that have been trusted not only to work in the nicer districts of Apollo but act as walking, talking publicity to show that not all vampires are bad. By having the Lightbloods cut all public ties to the vampires, allowing a group of Dhampir to create good publicity in the city and aggressively targeting the heroin market in Old Town, the Nosferatu Boys have some of the greatest public influence in Apollo.
Assets
Through the Lightbloods, the NBs have a monopoly on residential real estate and are competitive with corporate real estate in both Apollo City and Romania. Along with owning a share of the Apollo News Network, these is the gang's main, legitimate sources of wealth. Their secondary source of income is the nearly seamless importation and distribution of heroin within Apollo City. Although the APD and other investigative sources have yet to find out exactly how they are able to get massive amounts of heroin into the city, some suspect that it has to do with a complex system of exchanges that hide the drug in plain sight.
History
Originally based in Romania, The Nosferatu Boys initially formed from a group of pure vampires, now known as the Lightbloods, in response to a devastating event known as Purjarea (The Purge). This secret operation, birthed by the OSS in 1941, aimed to confiscate any and all genetic material of inhuman beings before exterminating them. In the beginning, it was a response to rumors spreading about Axis forces developing super soldiers and harnessing undiscovered occult strategies, wanting to beat them to the punch. However, as the months went on, the rumors were found to be yet another form of widespread propaganda to make the Allies fear their potential. It wasn't until, just days before the operation was to end, that an OSS agent discovered evidence of vampires in East Germany during an infiltration mission.
The five German youths, Damien, Alexandr, Stefan, Ilyana and Tatiana, fled for Romania where they took up their current names, agreeing to discard their original identities for the sake of safety. Once the Soviet occupation started in 1944, Damien had galvanized his status as the leader of the group and used his vampiric charm to form connections that would help him and his closest friends form a better future for themselves. Throughout the years, they worked under the guise of ordinary Romanians, sometimes even fooling the most astute of their kind to seamlessly weave into any situation, mortal or immortal, for their benefit. By the 2000s, the Lightbloods had amassed enough wealth from their criminal enterprise and international real estate empire to operate in the shadows. By this time, the Lightbloods had recruited hundreds of thousands of vampires across the globe. But it wasn't until they heard of the Far East Destruction event and the formation of a mystic Archipelago in Hokkaido that they sought to snatch up yet another territory.
Now rooted in Apollo City as one its most powerful organizations, the Nosferatu Boys are playing for keeps.
