Hallowed (ha-lowd)

Celestial Beings created from space-time, at the beginning of time.

Summary

At the birth of the Universe, there were inconsistencies in matter creating clusters of stuff. It was the spaces between all of the matter, voids, it’s said to have brought the Hallowed into existence. They occupy the voids within all matter, some theories propose that Hallowed are dark matter (matter that can’t be detected but can be seen having an effect on stuff), and others believe that they hold voids in order for the Universe to not collapse. New Hallowed are always being created as space-time expands, generally Hallowed will grow in size the older they are. Knitted together with space-time, they do not have physical forms (eg. Human bodies), and they are unable to manifest into things on planets and moons. Cultures across the Universe do hold their own ideas about how much Hallowed can interact with their worlds and evolution, manifesting in nature events, or emotions. However, the general consensus among researchers is that Hallowed can only interact with grand-scale things (destruction or creation of planets or galaxies).   Through research, The Archives has also found that Hallowed possess their own abilities. Each Hallowed can perform these abilities themselves but often it is seen that they don’t and stay to their speciality in order to keep balance across the Universe. These abilities can vary, from the purpose of space-evolutionary steps, or proving peace in a solar system. Due to these individual abilities often Hallowed will work together when creating galaxies etc. this has been labelled as Pairing but often doesn’t just relate to two Hallowed working together, but more. How they come together is generally due to the distance between them in space. Infinite creation of voids means all Hallowed don’t know of each other, so the closer the Hallowed are in space, means they are more aware and of simial age to each other. It was originally thought that Hallowed Paired together to care for a specific domain, but this has since been disproven with more research has been done.   The initial investigation into Hallowed started with the realisation that Hallowed Relics were placed across the Universe, and not just in one or two locations. This indicated to researchers that there might be more, and if there are more how many more? With a collection of Relic’s to study, researchers were able to determine each was different from the other, even though they were identical. A palm-sized indestructible glass orb wrapped in a metal cage, however, this was the normal part of the Relic. Inside was void of colour, like looking into the void of space. The weight changed depending on the holder of the Relic, always being a comfortable weight. These are believed to be pieces of individual Hallowed, evidence suggested if the Relic is transported too far from its original region it will teleport back to its original placement location. Researchers are unsure what the benefit of this security measure is. Some religions believe that worshipping Hallowed will bring them good fortune, with various types of sacrifices (eg. Old Earth cults sacrifice “impure” Human life, while others may sacrifice fruits and crafts). Some planets hold celebrations with Hallowed being the heart of the celebration, these can be yearly celebrations or more frequent ones. Hallowed have never seemed to want the worship of their abilities, researchers believe this is because they can not interfere with civilisations directly and they do not survey them. They are unable to gain anything from sacrifice or offerings.   With the ever-aging Universe and the birth of new and young Hallowed, it is impossible to track all of them. However, there does seem to be a type of hierarchy where the oldest Hallowed is larger and therefore have more space-time to control and do more of the heavy lifting. New and young Hallowed often create violent spaces that don’t ever initiate life forms, which seems to be a goal of the Hallowed from research done in the fields of middle-aged Hallowed who are getting the hang of the evolution of life. The eldest and biggest Hallowed is Devour, they are able to communicate to all Hallowed and are able to interact Universe-wide at any capacity. Nonetheless, Devour isn’t very active anymore. Initially, there were seven known Hallowed who were the oldest and biggest, as the Universe lives on there was smaller void’s detected indicating there are newer and smaller Hallowed coming into exitance. Furthermore, there isn’t much known about how this hierarchy act towards each other, older Hallowed don’t seem to react to newer violent Hallowed. It is unclear the purpose of a hierarchy in this family, research is ongoing.

Spread

It is fairly common to have Hallowed referred to as God's, so this myth can spread pretty far but not be separated as fact (ie. God control's all rather than endless separate beings controlling one thing). The common knowledge of these beings, as understood by The Archives, is that many civilisations during evolutions are unable to conceptualise their place on their planet and so create a God in order to help with the processing of their situation.   Known sub-groups of believers.   Hallowed Believers on AnoreEnlil. These people are connected with the energy of the Universe, they can feel the reminisce of the creation of the Universe and where the Hallowed is in the grand structure.   Hallowed Worshipers on Luna, along with The Sovereign's aligned nations. This organisation used Hallowed as a tool for control along with a reason to do as they wish.

Variations & Mutation

The story of Hallowed changes drastically from planet to planet, and even on those planets will cultures will hold different stories from each other. These variations are tracked in the culture's files, not in this file. It is suggested you seek out a Head of the requested department for individual variations.

Cultural Reception

Notable example: Within The Sovereign culture, the history of Hallowed is perceived as transcendent to celestials and is prayed to by the Sovereign population. However, they are used in order to scare the lower classes, by the Sovereign population, in order to make them provide for The Sovereign. The Sovereign population don't believe that they can actually influence their worlds though, and are more of a self-manifesting contribution from praying to Hallowed.

In Literature

Many stories from verbal transactions throughout generations, to written works (ie. the bible). A notable example of misuse of the Hallowed history is by The Sovereign, who uses the history as a way to scare or instil fear into people into slavery. One of the horrific uses of something meant to create and progress life within the Universe. It is suggested you seek out a Head of the requested department for individual variations.

I love this. The hallowed are appropriately transcendent for celestial beings, and I really like how the first and greatest is known as Devour. Gotta go read that article next! Great work!

Thank you so much! This is exactly the vibes I wanted them to have. Devour was the first name that came to me when thinking of them and it was, revolutionary I swear!
