General Physical Condition
Melissa is oddly plain, given her profession; she takes excellent care of herself, and knows how to accentuate her natural beauty, but her features may not be described as particularly "striking." Her hair, although long, soft, and voluminous, is brown; her eyes, although tender and seductive, are dull beige; her skin, although smooth and unblemished, is somewhat pale - separated from the usual Reishi tan. However, Melissa is in excellent physical condition - having a doctor for a mother, an alchemist for a sister, and two powerful sorceresses capable of healing in one's family will do that.

Melissa has defied the current fashion trend of chasing Amahitzan styles, and instead has stuck to Reishi tradition. Loose, colorful clothing that leaves much of the skin bared, lots of golden accessories, and even a few local flowers strung through her hair or fixed around her wrists.

Melissa runs a brothel, and that necessitates a flexible view on sexuality, and she is devoted to Cirasi, the Goddess of Comfort. This lends itself to a natural confidence in all matters of beauty and pleasure, regardless of her "muse."
Education
Melissa spent the first nine years of her life living with the comparatively poor Vere family, rather than her current connection to the much wealthier Maydlows. As such, some of her early education suffered under a "lower quality" tutor. Hers happened to be harsh and demanding on her, and so young Melissa developed a distaste for learning, and instead preferred to skip out on lessons to spend time with friends. Naturally, her book-smarts suffered because of this, but her sociability and emotional intelligence developed well.
Later, her higher education brought her up to close to par with the rest of noble society, although her distaste for theory remains even today; Melissa prefers the practical.
Morality & Philosophy
Melissa took well to Reishi high-life, and even distinguished herself well enough to earn a managerial position at the high class brothel The Layflower. She is as kind as the rest of her family, but working as closely as she does with Reishi's nobility has conditioned her to be a bit more greedy and selfish than some of the more altruistic members of her family. However, she is certainly the most debauched of the bunch - although that isn't considered a bad thing among the Reishi. Opulence, luxury, and wealth are the noble ideal, and sometimes that means dipping into what other societies might consider crude or improper.

Although she is fundamentally good, and seeks to comfort the people around her, Melissa is also concerned with her own comfort; maybe a little too concerned. She has a tendency to go out drinking, to take some of the brothel's patrons for herself, and even to engage in some harder substances on occasion.

Melissa is the daughter of Althea and Lavernus Maydlow, the sister of Dorsey Maydlow, and the half-sister of Viera Maydlow.

Melissa is a Cirasian (which means she follows Cirasi, the Goddess of Comfort), and a devout one at that. The Layflower has been decorated with Cirasi's crescent sun in her holy whites and golds and Melissa is rather particular about getting enough sleep.

Melissa is outgoing, friendly, and serene, if not exactly confident. She can certainly turn on the social graces and high-noble etiquette when she must, but Melissa much prefers relaxed speech with a bit of a flirty twist that might raise some eyebrows at a formal dinner. Sometimes a casual remark slips through before she fully realizes what she's saying.
