Harpy (harr-pee)

Harpies are a breed of halfling with the traits and lower half of a kind of bird. Rather than hands and feet, they have wings and talons, respectively.

Basic Information

Anatomy

For the most part, harpies are humanoid. However, harpies possess no hands or feet. Instead, harpies' arms are a set of feathered bird wings, and their legs and feet are that of a bird's legs and talons. These traits make it hard for harpies to do things that races with hands can do, but in recent years, hand-like prosthetics have been developed for harpies that allow them to do several simple tasks, like eating and writing.

Genetics and Reproduction

Harpies reproduce sexually.

Ecology and Habitats

Harpies can potentially live wherever normal birds can, but their preference ultimately depends on the breed of harpy in question. Owl harpies prefer forests, while vulture harpies prefer deserts and other hot areas.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Harpies are exclusively carnivores, and will often hunt animals larger than themselves.

Additional Information

Domestication

Although rare, some races allow a harpy to share a home with them.

Harpies usually wear something like a shirt or other tops to cover their torso; these clothes will often need to be extra large to allow their wings to fit through.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Most races get along well with harpies, and harpies, in turn, get along with them. Harpies do not interact with "darker" versions of a race, or any race from Hell.
