Personal history

The original Seven Virtues, named Chastity, Kindness, Patience, Temperance, Diligence, Charity, and Humility, were the leaders of both Heaven and the angels. Unfortunately, they were eliminated many years ago in the first primordial war. This war ravaged the planet as powerful light and dark forces fought to maintain balance. When the dust settled and the fighting was over, both Heaven and Hell were in severe need of leadership. Seven new angels would need to be chosen, each angel best representing one of the Seven Virtues.   Lania was born not long after the death of the original Charity. From a young age, she began considering all the ways she could help others, rather than helping herself. This earned her several close friends who she could rely upon, and who could rely upon her in turn. In her education, Lania was rather average, not excelling at any one particular subject, but passing most of them with ease. Both her teachers and her classmates thought of her as someone who was willing to lend a hand whenever she could, be it helping others with their work or simply picking up a dropped book and delivering it.   Small gestures like these were nice enough to Lania, but she wanted to help in a way that would leave an impact on people. She considered several options, such as becoming a healer or surgeon, but eventually settled for something much more direct and slightly easier; she joined the military to keep both Heaven and the mortal world safe. Initial training was tough on Lania, but she dug her heels in and was determined to become a soldier. With time, she finally got her first mission: destroying a devil's physical form.   The battle was long, but Lania eventually came out on top. Just as she was about to strike the final blow, however, she hesitated. It was in her nature to care about others, and a devil was a person like anyone else in her eyes. The devil used her hesitation to push Lania off, and fled, cackling into the wind. Lania received a long lecture from her commander that night and promised she wouldn't make the same mistake again. She stayed up that night and several other nights, training herself to not see devils as people but monsters that were a threat to peace. It took some work, but she soon got over her initial reservations.   Once again, she went on the mission to slay a devil, and this time, there was no hesitation in her attacks. She was swift and fierce, and when the time came to end it, she struck immediately. Her commander gave her praise, along with several of the other angels in the platoon, and they returned to Heaven, where she was given full soldier status.   Due to her nature, however, Lania did not see many combat missions after that. It had been decided that she would play a support role, to heal the fighters when they were wounded. This was fine with Lania; the less she had to fight, the better. She took some time to study up on healing spells and was well on her way through the ranks. Missions came and went, with Lania always close behind her comrades, ready to assist.   Then one day, a mission came up involving a large number of suspicious sales from one of the human cities. Humans were spending exorbitant amounts of money, more than usual, and Lania's platoon had been sent to investigate. As it turned out, a devil named Deremos had taken charge of a marketplace, using it to sell charms and potions that gave the buyer strange and mystical powers, or invincibility. Of course, all the charms and potions were fake and none of them worked, but Deremos had enchanted the marketplace so that the mortals had no choice but to buy his products.   In the midst of a sale, Lania's platoon launched a surprise attack against Deremos. Terrified, he grabbed as many con items as he could and fled. The chase took some time, but eventually they caught up to him. One of the angels tackled Deremos and pinned him to the ground. Lania, curious about Deremos' motives, asked him why he had scammed so many humans out of their money. Deremos's answer was simple, yet infuriating. He had simply hoped to make as much money as he possibly could, and hoard it all to himself. Angry, Lania asked one of her comrades to hand her a weapon. Surprised, they did so.   Lania advanced toward Deremos, countering his statement with her own. How could he think of no one but himself? How could he be so self-absorbed, so...greedy? It was a miserable display of avarice that sickened Lania to her core, and the other angels knew it; she had been helpful to them before, as well. Deremos responded with the final nail in the coffin, saying that if he didn't look out for himself, who would? That irritated Lania so much that she launched an attack on Deremos, calling him all sorts of colorful names, as her blade bit into his flesh. Finally, she stood over him, triumphant. Lania didn't even consider him worth killing, and told him to get out of her sight before she changed her mind.   Deremos fled, and the other angels commended her on their way back to Heaven. Lania was offered a promotion from regular medic to Combat Medic, meaning she could heal and fight if she wanted to. Lania thanked her commander, but politely refused, saying that the battle she had fought was a one time thing, and that she only wanted to help her comrades from now on.   In saying so, the symbol of Charity appeared above Lania's head: two palms outstretched together. Lania was now one of the Seven Virtues. To her dismay, this meant she had automatically become a general in Heaven's military. Lania tried many times to refuse the position, but unfortunately she was stuck there. Fortunately, however, she soon met the other six virtues. Mikhail, the Virtue of Kindness. Bianca, the Virtue of Chastity. Serro, the Virtue of Patience. Cera, the Virtue of Diligence. Adriel, the Virtue of Temperance. And Virvios, the Virtue of Humility. Cera and Serro understood that Lania was uncomfortable in leadership, so they gave her lessons in how to be direct and give orders efficiently. It took several months for Lania to finally accept her position and become a leader Heaven could be proud of, but she soon mastered it. And Cera reassured her that she could be both a general and a medic.   Now, she and the other Virtues had a new mission: to thwart the Seven Sins at every turn.
