Personal history

Evelyn was one of the first gods created by Eris back before there was anything at all. When asked to help Eris create the universe, she and her brother, Erebos, stepped forward first, to create the first life in the universe: angels, and devils.
Angels were made to be the personification of all that was pure and incorruptible, and devils were made to be earthly creatures of desire. These two races were meant to balance each other out, creating harmony, but unfortunately, it was not to be. Angels found devils to be repugnant, primarily due to their desires and the way they sustained themselves; namely sexual and emotional energy. Devils, in turn, found the angels to be haughty and self-righteous, thinking it impossible to meet their moral standards. The two races could not agree on who was in the right, and arguments and debates turned into open fighting as they began to insult one another.
Evelyn and Erebos descended into the world below to try and mitigate the fighting, but instead found themselves soon fighting with each other directly. Like their creations, they could not agree on which race was correct, allowing the conflict to grow and fester. Finally, they declared all-out war on each other, beginning the War of Light and Dark. Each god took the side of their own children, and many lives were lost in the opening days. Stalemate wasn't far away, it seemed, until Evelyn and Erebos created seven champions for their individual sides. Evelyn created the Seven Virtues, naming them Charity, Chastity, Diligence, Humility, Kindness, Patience, and Temperance. Erebos created the Seven Sins, naming them Envy, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Pride, Sloth, and Wrath. These champions were meant to be far more powerful than any angel or devil that had come before, their battles splitting the skies and shaking the earth. The other gods watched on in horror at how quickly the war had spun out of control, but at the same time, felt any intervention on their part would only worsen the conflict. Therefore, they observed and did nothing.
Finally, Eris himself descended to the mortal world and brought a swift and merciless end to the war. All fourteen champions perished in his assault, much to the grief of Evelyn and Erebos. Once the dust had settled, Eris demanded that angels and devils be banished from the mortal realm, to prevent such a war from ever occurring again. Evelyn, in disgust, kept her angels close to her and created Heaven, a realm of pure goodness and light. Her hope was that this sanctuary would protect her children from the evils and temptations the devils had. Likewise, Erebos created Hell, a realm of earthly desire and freedom, hoping it would spare his devils from the judgement and sanctimonious nature of the angels.
As the war finished, Evelyn and Erebos were presented with a problem - their children were sterile and could not reproduce, meaning that in due time, both species would eventually go extinct. Eris suggested merely giving them this reproductive ability, but to Evelyn and Erebos, this meant admitting defeat to each other. Instead, each species was given pre-evolutionary forms. All existing angels were reverted to cherubs, their new goal to evolve via light energy. Conversely, devils were given a longer evolutionary chain, consisting first of imps, then arch-imps, followed by lilim/luciem, and finally, the true devil form.
Once that was done, Evelyn and Erebos begrudgingly removed themselves from further creation, allowing the other gods to step forward. Once all the other races were created and the gods were ready to depart the mortal world, they, along with the other gods, called for Eris to join them in their departure. However, he refused, causing the other gods, including Evelyn and Erebos, to become anxious. They tried explaining to Eris that leaving the mortal world, so that it could change and grow of its own accord, was the best course of action, but Eris desired to stay and meddle with the world as he saw fit. Having no other choice, Evelyn and Erebos, along with the rest of the gods, took up arms against the God of Magic, in an attempt to make him see reason.
The War of the Gods is colloquially referred to as the "Ten-Minute War", due to the swiftness and ferocity with which the other gods were beaten by Eris. He was almost entirely convinced on erasing the universe and starting over, including destroying the other gods, but Evelyn and a few others begged him to reconsider, reminding him that they were his family, and they loved and only wanted the best for both him and the world he had asked them to create. Emotionally drained from both the Light-Dark war and the Ten-Minute War, Eris acquiesced.
A treaty was formed between the other gods and Eris, stating that while he could remain in the mortal world to observe, he was not to interfere except in the most dire of circumstances. With that, Evelyn, along with her brothers and sisters, and her angels, departed the mortal world, mostly for good. Until several thousand years later, nothing major would occur.
Many millennia later, Evelyn discovered a new problem; a devil by the name of Lunette Natalie Ayers. Since the day she was born and could comprehend the consequences of the Light-Dark war, Lunette wanted nothing more than the total annihilation of Evelyn, Heaven, and her angels. Evelyn watched and suffered for many years as her children were brutally slaughtered and mutilated in front of her by this devil with a grudge, and although she brought every fallen angel back to life, the pain never became easier to bear. Finally, Evelyn had had enough. After a particularly notable angel battalion had been ruthlessly decimated by Lunette, Evelyn broke her pact with the God of Magic, descending to the mortal world once again. There, she met Lunette, and showed her that all her efforts had been in vain, for Evelyn had resurrected every angel Lunette had ever felled. This broke Lunette's spirit, and Evelyn sensed the change. She advised Lunette that unless she wanted to die, she should remain in Hell and rot for her sins. With that, Evelyn returned to Heaven, showing Lunette her true, unfiltered form as she teleported away, killing Lunette instantly.
Since that day, Evelyn has remained mostly in Heaven, leaving the conflict to her children once more. And although there is currently a new threat, it is nowhere near the scale of Lunette's slaughter, leading Evelyn to judge that she need not intervene again.
