Naga
Naga are a race of half-human (or humanoid), half-snake people. Naga have the upper body of a human or other race and the tail of a snake. Naga tails can be up to sixty feet long. Naga learn magic faster than humans, but slower than elves.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Naga are a mix between snake and and another race: from the waist up, they are human, or another humanoid race. From the hips down, they have a long snake tail, and thus get around by slithering. Naga can be born with either round or pointed ears. Nagas' eyes have slits instead of pupils.
Although most naga fit the above description, there are several subspecies worth noting.
- Crag Naga are naga who have the ability to turn people to stone with their gaze, in much the same way as a basilisk. As a result, they lack the hypnotic ability of their brethren. Their petrification ability only works if the victim makes direct eye contact, however. When dealing with another race, crag naga wear eye masks or blindfolds. This only partially hinders their eyesight, as they still possess thermal vision.
- Medusian Naga possess the same ability as crag naga, but with one key difference: medusian nagas' "hair" is actually made up of tiny, living snakes, with their own free will. Unlike crag naga, medusian naga are more hostile and care less about accidentally petrifying others by accident. One other difference sets them apart: chunks of durable stone naturally grow on the tips of their tails, which they either use as a mace or blunt-force weapon, or they sculpt the rock into razor sharp edges for cutting and slicing.
- Nocturne Naga are the most dangerous, as they possess both hypnotic ability and are expert dark magic users. Nocturne naga are typically either all black, or a highly muted shade of solid color. Most nocturne naga also have bio-luminescent patterns on their scales of varying glowing color, which they can turn on and off at will. On top of their abilites and most importantly, the nocturne species have a quick temper and no moral compass. Nothing is too cruel or gruesome for them, and when they want something, they will use any and all means available to them to get it, whatever the consequences.
Genetics and Reproduction
Naga reproduce sexually, and lay eggs instead of giving live birth.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
- Constriction
- Hypnotic Gaze: Naga can channel magic through their eyes to produce glowing rings, spirals, or solid shades of varying color. When a target is exposed to these for longer than five to ten seconds, they will be unable to break their gaze, and will eventually be placed into a deep trance. Due to nagas' lack of regard for personal space, generally amorous attitude, and enjoyment of being in control, the hypnotic encounter will usually end in sexual intercourse, and, if a naga takes a liking to their subject, permanent entrancement.

Beauty Ideals
Aside from human standards of beauty, naga also judge by intricacy of tail pattern, color, and length.
Average Technological Level
Naga put no faith in any significantly advanced technology, and use magic for almost everything.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Nagish
Common Etiquette Rules
Naga are respectful to each other and their royalty, but to most people, their personal space boundaries can be...lacking.
Common Dress Code
There's no code of dress, but usually naga will wear very little or in the case of males, nothing at all, simply because they don't see a need for it.
Common Myths and Legends
Naga have been the subject of many myths, but the most prominent one is that naga eat sapient races often. As mentioned before, there's some evidence to support this myth, but the naga consistently deny it, and it has yet to be proven.
