Hector

Hector was the necromancer which Soular Power had the misfortune of encountering on Drant's mission from Heimdall to seek out and eliminate a nearby necromantic force in exchange for un-petrifying Nymph.¹

Soular Power was put onto Hector's tail by Decla, who - when the party inquired about nearby necromantic forces - offhandedly mentioned him. She stated that there were no real dangerous necromantic forces nearby, but that approximately five years prior some "edgy teenager" who kept getting kicked out of school eventually had enough and stole off into the woods to go "do his own necromantic thing." He hadn't been seen since, but hunters in the years following had seen some strange tracks and stranger corpses in the woods around where he was last seen. Soular Power quickly picked up his trail and descended upon Hector's lair.

Hector was able to neutralize Drant's assault with his apprentices, Berry and Sullivan, his undead pets, and a little bit of subterfuge on the part of Jalan, who found Hector's lair before Drant and warned the necromancer of Drant's approach.

Upon defeating Drant, Hector cast Spare the Dying on him and went about mourning those of his pets killed in the fight instead of initiating combat with the increasingly befuddled Soular Power. When questioned, he lamented that death was sad and ugly and he wanted no part of it, and that he thought he could make such a tragic thing into something useful by reanimating dead animals as his pets. He asserted that he had never meant or done harm to anybody, and that he lived in a cave in the middle of the woods so his weird practices wouldn't unsettle or scare anybody like they had when he resided in Stalwartz.

Hector's sad confession was interrupted by Drant, who had been healed to consciousness by Vincent Syndarkyl, punching a hole straight through Hector's chest. In his last moments, Hector saw his still-beating heart, clutched in Drant's claw and protruding from his chest, cease beating.

Moments later, Hector was revived by Vincent, only to be immediately killed by Berry as the first trial in her and Sullivan's initiation into Heimdall's order.

Hector's docile pets were slaughtered by Vincent when Soular Power left the lair for good, taking Berry and Sullivan with them.
