Patricia "To You"

The party’s encounter with the librarian known as Patricia was short but certainly not sweet.¹ She and the party crossed paths as they desperately chased down Naomi Venstrum in an attempt to get to the Millennium Spellbook - which they’d just discovered was stashed in the Stonedeep Library basement - before she could manage to swipe it and disappear. Patricia guided the party to the library’s secret underground wing - which contained all manner of rare magical books and scrolls - upon them giving her the correct passphrase: asking for a copy of “How To Cook With Mudcrab: A Poor Man’s Guide To Eating Healthy.”

Unwisely leaving them unsupervised, she returned in a fury upon seeing a number of silent alarms triggering in the chamber from Jalan’s greed-looting all of the priceless books off of their magically warded shelves.

She has a penchant for racist epithets and avoiding calling people by their given names, preferring to call Fritz ‘knee-licker,’ Drant ‘bug,’ and Jalan ‘Under-scum.’ She harbors a special dislike for Fritz, who despite being nothing but cordial and helpful towards Patricia, bears the brunt of the slurs and mud-slinging - even more so than Jalan, who was literally caught red-handed stealing priceless books. And, to Fritz’s great chagrin, even more so than Naomi, who broke into the library in the first place, knocked Wizmur Greybeard out, and clearly planned to swipe the Millennium Spellbook from under the library’s nose.

Patricia’s affectionate surname was coined when Fritz - trying to be amicable - asked Patricia’s name, and got the curt response “It’s just Patricia to you.”

Ultimately, Fritz managed to convince Patricia to allow her to safeguard the Millennium Spellbook, and earned an almost non-vitriolic “gnome” instead of her standard “knee-licker” or new favorite, “discount dwarf.”
