The Swallowing Lamb and Pleasure Inn

The Swallowing Lamb and Pleasure Inn is a Tavern located by the western gate of Eaglecliff Town.

Design

Appearance: The Swallowing Lamb and Pleasure Inn is a small, two-story building with a thatched roof and walls that have seen better days. Its exterior is weathered and the sign bearing its name swings creakily on rusty hinges. Despite its rundown appearance, the inn has a certain rustic charm. Interior: Inside, the inn is cozy but cramped. The main room serves as a bar and common area, filled with mismatched furniture that includes several large, worn armchairs and wooden tables scarred from years of use. Dim lighting from oil lamps casts shadows in the corners, adding to the inn's slightly mysterious ambiance. Atmosphere: The atmosphere in the inn is jovially rough around the edges. Patrons are a mix of locals and the occasional adventurous traveler. The innkeeper, a jovial and slightly eccentric character, is known for telling exaggerated tales of the inn's history, including the famous lamb incident.

History

The name "The Swallowing Lamb and Pleasure Inn" might have originated from a local legend or a peculiar incident involving the inn's founder. According to village tales, the inn was named after a bizarre event where a particularly large and unruly lamb, part of a traveling circus that visited the village long ago, swallowed a valuable item—perhaps a golden coin or a precious small jewel—that belonged to a wealthy patron. The lamb's antics caused such amusement and drew so many onlookers that the innkeeper decided to capitalize on the event's popularity. The addition of "and Pleasure" was a cheeky nod to the light-hearted entertainment and the somewhat risqué performances the inn began to host to attract more visitors. Since the economic decline of Eaglecliff Town however, its been a while since any performances have happened.
