Alvus
Alvi is the Rhenish exonym for members of a long-lived, sentient humanoid species that have existed on Tel since the Third Age. In the aftermath of the Dracomachia, the Alvi have managed to develop two large civilizations: the Xianese Empire that comprises much of the continent of Aeolia, and the various states that make up the subcontinent Dhenia.
Basic Information
Anatomy
As humanoids, Alvi are similar in anatomy and morphology to Humans. However, the average height of an adult Alvus is six inches to a foot less than the Human average.
Ecology and Habitats
Although the Alvi are biologically capable of inhabiting any clime that is possible for a humanoid species, they prefer to dwell in boreal, temperate, or tropical old-growth forests.

Facial characteristics
Compared to Humans, Alvian facial features are more angular and sharp, with high cheekbones and pointed chins that give the Alvian face a triangular shape. All Alvi possess almond-shaped eyes that tend to be larger than the human average. Likewise, compared other species, like Humans or Oameni, Alvi display a lesser degree of sexual dimorphism. For example, most adult Alvian males cannot grow facial hair; to outsiders, the Alvi have a slightly androgynous, yet alluring, appearance.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Alvi are found throughout Aeolia and Dhenia, with isolated tribes existing in the northernmost regions of Ione.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Alvi are able to see in conditions of darkness that would render a Human or Oamen blind. The Xianese refer to this ability as "zham-muk" (literally "dark-eye" in environments without light, Alvi are still able to perceive forms, but are not able to discern colors. The philosophers of Tel hotly debate whether the Alvi's ability to see in darkness is natural in origin or a thaumaturgical gift bestowed upon the entire species.
Alvi are naturally disposed to having a lithe, willowy build with an effortly graceful posture and stance.
