"Calendars & Timekeeping is Flawed"
Summary
Between the Great Revolution, many editions of the Codex Stella, and the Great Rebellion; the records of keeping time have been edited and/or exaggerated. A few months are treated as years, years are treated as decades, decades as centuries, and before one knows it the time table and calendar is off by a few thousand years. Though there is no proof of this officially, at least that is according to the Holy Order of the Light.
Historical Basis
Unclear; as many records use different timekeeping methods ranging from the orbit of specific moons, suns, or stars. Though the one kept by the Holy Order of the Light is considered the "canon" even it is viewed through a skewed lens by more adept but heretical scholars.
Spread
Mostly spread by word of mouth, though anyone who spreads such "nonsense" will be treated as a fool or tried by the Holy Order of the Light for heresy.
Variations & Mutation
There are many variations, too many to count. But all add up different so it is unclear which is most true. So many accept the Holy Order of the Light's records.
Cultural Reception
Anyone who intends to not be burned alive prescribes to the official calendar and timekeeping system of the Holy Order of the Light, thus no educated in history well enough dares speak up about it.
In Literature
Most literature about this was burned during the Great Rebellion and subsequent book burnings since then, very few records remain undamaged or unharmed in some way.
In Art
There are plenty of ancient paintings and portraits of significant people and scenes made since the Great Rebellion but the dates written on them do not always make the most sense calendar-wise, so it is best to not draw attention to it.
